Spyderco Reveal 20 Live!

We know who to blame and it is not the dealers.

FWIW, I don't "blame" Spyderco or any other knife makers from the need to raise their prices.

They need to make $ to stay in business &, like the rest of us, they do not have a lot of control over their costs BUT I'm sure that Sal understands that there is an inverse relationship between the increased price of the knives they make/sell (at MSRP or MAP) and the amount of sales/profit (if any) they can make at higher price points.

Personally, I've got more enough $ to buy any knife that I want but I wouldn't have the disposable income that I have if I didn't pay close attention to the prices I pay for things, including knives, & there is no question that I have STOPPED buying knives that I consider too expensive for what think that I am getting in return.

The Respect is currently one of those knives that I'm interested in but do not think offers a sufficient value for the price & I'd only consider buying one for around $50.

Just bought a Starmate 20CV for $275 (vs $450 MSRP & $337.50 MAP). My target price was $250-275. Could have waited longer but a "bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush." ;)

So, getting a Retract for $50 eventually doesn't seem to be out of the question. 🤷‍♂️

Controlling the final selling prices AFTER you have been paid by the retailer or wholesalers is not the equivalent of raising prices due to increased costs. Spyderco is far from alone in this practice, so I am not singling them out.

Edited to add: I have well over 100 Spydies, so I'm not a hater.

Looks like National is one of those dealers no longer offering additional discounts for a Spyderco purchase. 🤷‍♂️
There’s still ways around MAP if you’ve got a good enough relationship with selling dealer! 😏
