I'm a big fan of all the folders in the Spyderco Sage series with locking mechanism themes, great 3" EDC blade and various scales. Finally, got them all last month including the two versions of Sage 3.

Here's what Spyderco Byte (December 2013) said about the Sage series:

What does the future hold for the Sage Series? Well, in addition to continuing to recognize the contributions of other designers, based on popular demand we plan to showcase our own lock innovations, including our patented Compression Lock and Ball Bearing Lock. These locks have definitely stood the test of time and earned their rightful place alongside the other notable mechanisms in the series.

Per Sal there are more in the works with different locking mechanisms:

We have a Sage 5 in-the-works. Very complicated lock so it's taking more time.

A Sage with a Button Lock would be nice. Love it on the William Henry folders.

In the plan.

Reason I don't own a Sage, I would want them all. It doesn't take a Sage to know that.

I've had all 4 (but not the new CF Sage3) at one point or another. All are awesome EDC knives in there own way but for me the Sage 2 works best. I like the weight vs. the 3 or 4 & this model is easy to make neat mods to. Here is mine:

I just today sold my G10 Sage 3, plan on picking up a CF one some time this year (tho not any time soon). This is my S1, its one of the knives I'll never get rid of. Hand rounded spine, hand filed lock bar jimping and polished liners. I'm actually still working on the spine, by the time I'm done it'll be polished but doing it all by hand takes a long time (by hand as in no power tools, using strips of sand paper and emery cloth).

Idk what's up with this picture, the spine is really even, I'm not sure why it looks so screwed up near the tip, maybe a shadow or reflection or something weird going on with the pic its self.

Originally wanted a Sage 2 first, but got a great deal on a Sage 1, and it's waiting in the mailbox for me. Sage 2 still next on the list.

A friend of mine picked up a Sage 1 from a guy on Craigslist for $60, and when he told me about it I thought he must have gotten a fake or a really used turd. He showed up at work with a brand new Sage 1, only had been lightly sharpened. I might be on the Sage Wagon now.

Don't have the newest Sage 3 but have the others. IMO the Sage 1 is the cats meow. An incredible edc. Took a bit for the 3.5 to knock it out of the front pocket. Still gets carry time, and is still one of my favorite Spydies.

Said it before in the EDC thread but I really love the fade on the handle and the deep stone wash. Great lookin knife bro!

Edit: pic 2 doesn't work without logging into yahoo.

Got in my Sage 1 today, and it's just beautiful. Smooth, light, ergonomic, remarkable f/f. This one will see much pocket time.

I love my Sages! I have two Sage 1's and two Sage 2's. My Sage 2's have different shades of Titanium too.

I love everything about my new Sage-1, except on how chunky it feels while clipped to my inside-front-right pocket. I know I'm in the minority on this one, but as great as the knife feels and looks, I just can't EDC it. Such a shame too.

A Sage 1 is next on my list due to local law changing to 3 inch blade limits, now I just have to find a good deal on one.

Like many have mentioned the liner lock Sage 1 is a great entry to the series at just over $100 brand new.

Nice write-up, RamZar. I am totally amazed at my SAGE 2; it's solid and smooth and fits me.
But when Sal comes out with the compression lock on a Sage, I might have to put my dog up for sale in order to get as many as I would be happy with. The 3" blades are super for gifting to my Michigan relatives...and I've got a bunch up there.
edit: I don't have a dog. I wish I had a dog. But that tells you how much I want a compression lock in a nice titanium Sage.
Sal? Sal? Are you listening, my friend?

You may be in the minority, but not alone. It's bizarre, but I find the much larger Southard actually carries better. My Sages (I have the 1 and 2) are just so wide . . .
