Spyderco Stretch

Thanx for the offer Yablabowitz, but I'm afraid there aren't enough to go around.

I look forward to a new and improved stretch. I like the looks of the knife, and definitely want to add it to my collection.

I'm currently carrying the Stretch2 as an EDC. Peel ply carbon fiber handle full flat ZDP. Full SS liners, 4 way E4/D4 hourglass clip, screw construction. It's about 2mm thicker. Currently about the same weight as the first one. (I think I can take a few grams out in the future). Handle is about 3mm longer.

Now we are talking!!! I loved everything about the Stretch I had,
execpt the Krayton insets which is why I ended up selling it. I look
forward to the Stretch 2. Count me in for what it is worth.

I guess as usual I'm in the minority. I carry the stretch often. It's one of my all time favorites in the present form. I even like the kraton inserts. One can really get a renewed appreciation of VG10 with the stretch. Sorry to see it go. I'll have to try to get a spare before they disappear. Joe

After reading this thread I deceided to take another look at the Stretch. I always loved the blade design. It seemed absolutly perfect for me, but I could never get past the Crapton inserts. Since its been disco'd I broke down and deceided to order one. I had a hard time finding one in PE! Plenty around in CE. So if your on the fence best get one while you can. It may be a long wait for the CF/ZDP version.

Years ago, I bought what was then called a "Pro Venator" or "For the Hunter" model. It had not only Kraton inserts in the scales, but a Kraton insert in the clip and I hated that knife! It now resides in the bottom of a drawer somewhere at home, unloved and unwanted. I took one look at the Stretch when it came out and all that I could see was that damned Pro Venator. :thumbdn:

somehow the Stretch never 'did' anything for me. it's ugly and has an SS-handle with Kraton-inserts, and it wasn't that affordable either
i mean, there are plenty of other Spydies in its price-range that are way cooler/better.
all i liked about the Stretch was the flat-ground blade, but that's about it.

I was thinking about the same for long time, but I read a lot of positive about Stretch and when few days ago I saw a good deal I bought it out of curiosity. The first impressions are: in real life it looks much better than on the picture (yes, I care how knife looks like), very comfortable grip, very good fit and finish. I like it. Stretch did not became my EDC yet (it has to compete with Persian, Caly3, R2 and Adventura) but with 3.5” full flat grind blade it has a good chance.

For about two years or so the Stretch has been my EDC. The Kraton wore smooth enough to be no bother after a few days. I use the knife several times a day and won't leave home without it. Haven't seen anything to tempt me to replace it. We'll see what the new design looks like.
