Spyderco Stretch

Very nice modification and pictures. It looks awesome and I guess if it came like that I would still love the Stretch, but I love that it is a little different, it draws me to it. I would love to get the CF version, they should do the Super Blue with that peel-ply again.

Between the two I prefer the FRN model as it feels more comfortable when gripping while the carbon fiber is overall stronger I found that it wasn't as handy to grip

Yeah, my desire for the CF version is all about looks! I really like FRN, don't get me wrong, but the CF looks so classy. I would probably carry the regular one more, but would still love to have the CF.

This thread is a testament to the quality of service and integrity that comes from a company that is proud of their product. I chose to purchase an endura over the stretch just because of the 20$ price difference and longer blade, but I think I will have to pull the trigger on one now, especially if it becomes available in something like Super Blue

Originally I thought the Stretch was ugly, but I still chose it as my first Spyderco because of it's utility.
Now I can't remember what I found so ugly and I've come to almost prefer it's strange shape.

Changes I would realistically like to see: Nothing. Well... I would like to see a Chaparral-like stop-pin setup in the Stretch. :)
Changes I dream of: A tougher steel like ELMAX, CPM-3V, or SM-100... :D (Super Blue isn't that exciting, to me... maybe it should be?)

As someone who only carries lockbacks, I'm happy that Spyderco has so many lockback models.
Thank you Sal.

I don't like a lot of Spyderco blade shapes, but, all of them are interesting in design.

I do love my Stretch. I keep wanting to rotate in an Endura, but for the ergos, the weight and nearly the same blade size, the Stretch just beats the Endura in my book. I would love a G10 version. The FRN versions are nice, but two things I'd like to see are color variants like the Delicas and Enduras have, and a G10 model. I am willing and expecting that the G10 model would be more expensive, but, I just love G10 as a handle material.

As far as the Stretch not being as popular as the Endura/Delica models, I think that initially, the Enduras were popular and this drove the cost down cause so many people were buying em. Then it took attention away from the Stretch. I have always wondered why the Stretch cost more, but I chalk it up to the Enduras being big sellers.

Still, I love the Stretch!

i know its a long jump across the pond, but would be cool to see a stretch or two come out of Golden

...Or Taiwan. I've said as much several times now. It opens up steel options, perhaps scale choices and other advances in build quality perhaps as well. Referring to Taiwan's rep in the F&F dept.

Golden once expansion is complete and things settle down. We can dream :)

A CF/ZDP Stretch I scored on the exchange last month bumped a large Sebenza out of my pocket that had been there since 2008. I would like to see additional versions as well as G10 Endura's while we are asking!!!

Frankly, the Stretch was not as popular as I had hoped. In fact, I lost a bet to Eric and Susan on sales. Mine gets a lot of carry time (BRG-ZDP).

As I remember, we have a higher line version in-the-works. Stretch (regular blade shape), bolster, Takefu Damascus blade. I don't know that we've pulled the trigger yet. We talked about a Super Blue version, but the minimum amount of steel required is a lot at this time. I'm open to discussion though.

Honestly Sal the Stretch is an amazing knife. The location of the spydie hole to the distance to the pivot is probably the best Spyderco in your line up. What I mean is that I blindly opened all my Spydercos (30+ models) and by-far the opening of the Stretch was the best feeling. It feels the most natural and controllable... it's hard to explain but kind of feels like the tool is simply part of your body. I suggest everyone else try this as well. (?)

In my opinion the Stretch is one of Spydercos best knives, I love the blade shape and how well it cuts. However, I can see why some people might find the blade shape unattractive which is possibly why it hasn't sold as good as you hoped. Personally I think the design could win over more customers by changing the blade style or grinds. What do I know though! I'm just some Joe Shmoe!

P.s. Do you guys have any Carbon Fiber Stretches laying around in the warehouse? I would be happy to take on the burdon of clearing up your shelves. :p

+1,000!!!

The blade:handle ratio of the Stretch is awesome! As are the ergos! And I absolutely love the blade shape (my fav Spydie blade shape). But I would love to see it with a compression lock! That would be a big winner I think!

Anyone know where I can find a Stretch? Preferably a Carbon Fiber but will take anyone I can find.

There is one in my CF carry rotation pack:D

If Sal made it with a liner or ti framelock I'd stop buying knives (I'd get a spare or two though;)). Even though the back lock isn't a favorite I carry mine a lot.

No seriously.

Just pulling your leg a bit:p

Seriously though I've seen a few for sale at pretty low prices from time to time. Just be patient or post a want to buy or trade in one of those sections of this forum.

I know everybody loves the PM2, and I like mine too, but I always seem to gravitate to my BRG Stretch. I find I have to make an effort to pick a different knife over it.
