Spyderco Stretch

There is one in my CF carry rotation pack:D

If Sal made it with a liner or ti framelock I'd stop buying knives (I'd get a spare or two though;)). Even though the back lock isn't a favorite I carry mine a lot.

Where did you gets this one?

Probably from a dealer, a couple years ago, when they were being produced. At least that's how I acquired my two. :D

My CF user doesn't get carried much anymore. I find the thicker FRN handled versions and the original SS one that STR customized for me with Lignum Vitae scales over ti liners more comfortable to use, and the bolstered cocobolo one prettier.

I traded and sold my two cf stretches at a misguided time in my life. Now I search daily for a replacement at a reasonable price.
Those two and a Kirby Lambert inferno are my most regretted knife transactions. Anyone have a cf stretch they want to part with? Russ

In retrospect, I wish I'd bought a backup Stretch CF. I still think that it's the best knife Spyderco ever made, although the Native 5 Ti has been sharing EDC duties with it lately. I have one of the somewhat-rare blue FRN ZDP-189 Stretches that serves as backup now.

Not unless you have a PE CPM 440V Starmate in good shape:p ;) Not too long ago the CF Stretch sold for not too much money quite regularly. Seems most people who have them want to keep theirs.

Sounds like a Super Blue sprint would be some time away. I'll keep some $ set aside for one!

It was a gift to me from Sal Glesser a little over two years ago and I've carried it quite often ever since. Partly out of respect for his philosophy that his knives are meant to be used, and partly because it's hard not to use a knife that looks, feels, and cuts as good as this. To the best of my knowledge, it was one of two prototypes made for a project that never reached production.

I own ZDP versions in blue FRN and CF, along with VG-10 in black FRN. I would not be a real fan of super blue or damascus in the Stretch, but might dig G10 or different FRN colors. Just my take. Of course, Powernoodle Blue G10 would be a top seller. :)

Yes. A navy/dark blue G10 Stretch would be awesome! Any wishlist thread, I'm there with this request.

I'd love a bolstered one also, too bad it didn't pass the proto stage.

I know that there is the SB Stretch in grey FRN, what happened to the Blue Nishijin/Damascus Stretch? Is it still in the books for a release?

I'm not a collector, but I've been using Spydercos since 1995 for work and leisure. Purchasing two CF Stretches back when they were in production is easily the best knife purchase decision I ever made.

The F&F/quality control is not as good as the Taichung knives, and the compression lock is better than the back lock for sure, but nothing beats the Stretch's ergo's in use or carry. The pure feel/heft/balance of the CF version is perfect (which has always been counterintuitive to me considering how thin it is).

A Stretch made in Taiwan, with the exact same pleel-ply CF scales (not laminate) + M390 (or similar) would be my perfect folding knife. Maybe a larger pivot pin as well. Taichung has never used peel-ply AFAIK, so I guess Golden would be the go-to factory for this dream knife to actually become reality.

At least two Spyderco dealers show the Nishijin/Damascus Stretch as a future release, so I'd imagine it's somewhere in the pipeline.

C90GFBLPD and C90GFPD should be out late November.
KW will have a pre order posted in the dealer section later this morning.
(There is a glitch In the Matrix right now. Unable to post in the dealer section at this time)
I understand its a small run of 600 ea.

Have had several through the yrs. Ended up keeping (2) cf with the Lg "dinosaur" jimping. One to use and a back up.
That's one feature I would like to see return. Photo showing both styles.
