Spyderco vs Benhcmade

No sympathy here, just the only two to hold the knife are him and mike dye. And mike said it really did have a burr on it. That was my only point. Just going back to when it was said that it was photoshopped.

I am new but wasted an hour of my life on this *******. Reading about him. But if you read what Michael Dye said. The Knife really did have a Burr on it. And maybe he really did think it was “Defective” as he would say.

So Dennis or Denn was wrong. But this kid really is an *******; I hate you before I even registered.

Just a bit of information, the aforementioned "burr" is not a defect.

The uninitiated may misconstrue this as a defect, however to experienced knife and tool sharpeners, this result almost always occurs to some degree along the edge when you're sharpening. It is desirable as a matter fact.

Recommend you search for threads on "sharpening" and "burrs".

You know that when you achieve a burr, you are doing things correctly and on your way to a razor's edge. Heck, Spyderco really does you a favor when they do this. Happens all the time actually.

most folks weren't arguing the burr. we just think that Vinny put that there himself thru misuse. i don't buy his story that it "came that way".

man, sorry for taking this POS thread to the top.

Sorry Mr. Blood, I was offering Mr. Sears the info about Burrs. Didn't intend to lecture forumites who are in the know about the issue.

i am new also. but anybody with some time and some intent can sharpen most any thing. the burr???? use a stone or if you dont know how ask some one to show you. stop trying to scam NGK. my friend and i bought a pair of BM 630 skirmesh's sp great price and even got some bandaids in the deal. vinny is a plug

I busted off the end tip of my Schrade 7OT Cave Bear, and was in a blue funk for days, when I was about 12 or 13, mighta been younger. Anyway, I just re shaped the end into a point with a stone, and never looked back. I guess I should have sent it to Schrade to get it fixed, but it still has a good point on it, and I'm no worse for wear.

I don't think you can go too wrong with most of the knives from either company. I think Spyderco's overall designs as of late have been more adventurous. Benchmade has a nice, conservative styling. What I have always noticed is that when I see a Benchmade picture I go "Ho, hum. Another Benchmade folder. Yawn. Boring" and if I get a chance to hold the knife and use it I am always impressed. Two of my favorite folders are the Mini-AFCK and Pinnacle (titanium framelock) and both are boring-looking, but wonderful knives! But, both companies make good knives, as far as I am concerned.

no; it's officially him. not only is it the same server, it's the same account:

haha!... and if you visit the link, his "Knife" folder still contains his Para pictures. also, i love how, if you look at his old pics, you can clearly see there was no "burr" on it, at least, not originally.

oh well. if he behaves himself, i'm willing to leave things be. i called him by name anyway.

I had the same feelings. His post about binoculars on the off topic forum gave him away: "I buy only the best". Same thing he said about knives. Yeah right.

He needs a good kick in the head. The one thing I can't stand are con artists trying to fleece honest businessman. I hope he goes to jail for fraud and ends up bunking with a 350 lb. cellmate named Meat.
