Spyderco Warranty Department, Not Friendly!!!

Umm, it sounds like you stripped the screws if they dont go back in. Why did you not just email them and ask for screws instead which would be free. If you are not able to do that yourself. Then 5$ is not bad. Id never sent my knife in for warranty for an issue like that. In fact I never had to send one in at all to any company. Unless It was 5 years old for a tune up.

While they may not always seem happy on the phone. Spyderco has never charged me a dollar. That goes for KAI as well. Ive only used them twice for my friends knives as Charlyn has always taken care of me with free parts and such as well. Kai is easily the best of the bunch for me. As they always show gratitude for buying their product and often go above and beyond including if you wish to ask them questions on the phone to trouble shoot an issue.
However I kill people with kindness when it comes to a service or almost anything for that matter. And I have to say It usually works. You never know how many inconsiderate numb skull people bother them on the daily.

Id have to say your thread is in bad taste and will not get you far at all. I think they treated you as you deserved to be.

Enough with your petty insults, consider this your only warning on the matter. You came here to blow hot air about this, you weren't asked. So don't go getting your undies in a wad over the replies you get. By the sweet disposition and good nature tone of your multiple threads, I just cannot imagine why you were disrespected.
So, we're the idiots and you are the only one acting the part. Hmmm, sounds about right I guess. Why did you not send your knife back to the place you bought it for an exchange? What I see is that you have some entitlement issues there guy. You demand respect, and by golly this is 'Murica, I will not be censored!

Man this forum must be full of smart aleck Yankees! Is Spyderco paying you jerks for your sweet replies? I'm not new at this. I have been buying knives for 40 years, and have spent thousands of dollars on them. I don't need a bunch of idiots telling me anything about knives. I don't care if I get thrown off this stupid forum. This is America, and I have the right to express my disgust. EVERY CUSTOMER DESERVES RESPECT! If you can't do that you won't be in business long.

Funny, spyderco has been in business for nearly 36 years.

If you want respect, maybe you should be respectful.

Mods, I would appreciate this being moved to whine and cheese greatly.

Yeah please move this to whine and cheese. This is just in bad taste. And it is people like this that make the customers look inconsiderate and incapable of simple task's like moving a pocket clip. Thus making the fine print in warranty even longer.

spudin, tact goes a long way. I've also had less than stellar responses from a couple companies, but with tact & courtesy have always prevailed. You have 10 years here and while there are indeed a $hitload of fanboys, you needn't stoop. Stick around for another 10.

Calm down, man. Really Blade Forums is awesome, with awesome people. I just don't see how somebody can get so upset about $5 for the return shipping. I've never personally worked with Spyderco's CS, but I've only ever heard great things about their CS. I don't get it... And, the customer is NOT always right. There is such thing as protocol ($5 return shipping in this case) that companies have to go by.. Benchmade has a $5 return shipping when you send a knife to get sharpened. Really, you make no sense at all..

I just... I don't...

What?

THE CUSTOMER DESERVES RESPECT!!!
(The customer is granted respect until he removes it from himself. Afterwards, he deserves nothing.)

THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!!!
(What about the "customers" that take advantage of companies because of this unrealistic concept? - If you owned a knife company and had folks trying to get free knives off of you for various bunk reasons, you might get a bit irked after awhile too.)

You don't deserve or have an entitlement to anything.

You're from America, and that's a reason to speak your mind - whatever useless garbage it is, right?

Maybe use your American rights to understand the reality of how an actual manufacturing company works. The warranty is written plainly for you to see - but you deserve much much more because you've been collecting for 40 years and know infinitely more about knives than the rest of us lowly internet scum.

Oh, and not willing to invest $5.00 in your $150.00 knife to keep it in good shape? What? GET OVER YOURSELF!

I agree with that.. But did they even treat him poorly is my question! Haha

Well, I first want it to be seen! Yes it was bought from a dealer, and No it wasn't my fault. Why put 4 options for clip placement on a knife if you are never to use them! I have had warranty work done many times in the past from other manufacturers and custom knife makers, Grayman knives charged me no return shipping. Very friendly people. The customer is always right! I have sent knives to Benchmade, and Zero Tolerance as well!

No, the customer is an asshole. Especially when they think the customer is always right. The customer is full of it, and will lie to themselves just so they don't have to feel like an inferior fool for not being able to use a damn screwdriver correctly. People such as yourself are the bane of customer service. Self-important entitled twits that break everything and blame someone else for the problem.

There's no reason to be a douche online because you can't use a screwdriver properly.

I have never paid for return shipping on a knife I sent in for warranty repairs. It's not the price that I'm pissed about it's the principle of it. And yes everyone deserves respect, all men are created equal. We all came into this world naked, and no one will take anything with them when they leave it.

Yet you don't feel the need to respect anyone that dares insinuate you may be at fault. In short, you're a hypocritical buffoon.

They wanted you to pay return shipping because you were NOT sending your knife for warranty repairs. YOU stripped the screws because you don't know how to use a screwdriver properly. That is NOT covered under any warranty I have ever seen.

All I can say is you come to my town and say that to my face! Also for your info I'm not the one who actually took the screws out, a friend of mine did, and I know you wouldn't tell him to his face he can't use a screwdriver. I work for a major manufacturer, for 15 years. A much larger company than Spyderco! John Deere!

Just blame it on your friend, I guess.. If you do work in customer service you should know how it is to work for people who feel entitled, like yourself. It's not an easy job.

Hey, I have had to send in knives to Spyderco before, and it is standard to include $5 for return shipping. HOWEVER!!!!! If it is determined that the problem was not your fault, then Spyderco will return it with your knife. All the times I have sent in a knife it has been returned with the $5. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss an entire line of great knives because of this

To the new member swearing at spudin, watch your dirty words. I got a warning for calling someone pickle lips in a joking manner.:p
So your friend stripped the screws then. Why did you not say this in the first place. Did you tell them your friend did this and that you wanted them to correct that mistake. You could have asked for new ones. If you are not able to ask for screws and put them back in. Lets just hope you don't assemble anything for john deer otherwise my tractor might just start falling apart.
