spydercos best model?

Greetings Users! I'm a giant n00batron here to the forum and to the knife community at large. Even though I've always carried some sort of blade, it was only this past year that I've started to build a humble collection (still under a dozen pieces--nothing 'high-end' yet,) but so far I've been really digging those Spydercos! I only have five Spydies to date; just thought I'd add my two cents for what it's worth...

Best Spyderco: Kiwi 3 stainless steel slip-joint... (!?!) I like to frequently alternate my larger folders, but regardless of the folder I choose, this little guy always rides shotgun. It's people-friendly, compact, unique & classy-looking, has great ergonomics, and the Wharncliffe blade is perfect for opening letters and everyday packages. Best $20 I've ever spent!

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life.;)

Got my Gayle Bradley today. It's quite deserving of all the accolades it's received. Definitely a "custom" look & feel to the blade. Beautifully done. IMO, easily makes the "best of" list.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

We're happy to have you.

... I'm gonna end up with a Sebenza at some point, aren't I? (lol)

Not necessarily, only some are called in that direction.
Taking myself as an example, I've learned over the years that the style of handle and blade on the Sebenza do not mesh well with my tastes.

The Umnumzaan on the other hand...

Not wanting to miss out on a great knife before its production life ends, I recently scooped up a brand new Native 1 in CPMS30V. Although I recognize many excellent features to this knife, I haven't completely warmed up to it... perhaps because it resembles both (but *isn't* either) the Manix and the Sage: two models I've been seriously drooling over.

Now, I definitely want to experience the Sage, but which one? The decision has paralyzed me for months, I'm still twisting over which one I like best, and now the Sage 3 is on the horizon. Darn you, Mr.Glesser! Why do you have to make such cool sharps??

Delica first generation. Either Gin1 or AUS 8
Full SpyderEdge of course:thumbup:

Very closely followed by the Military in full SpyderEdge;) in either steel.

Gayle Bradley - hands down. I've have owned a ton of Spyderco knives, man just a ton and the Gayle Bradley is certainly a knife for life!

Military

Hands down the "best" Spyderco I've handled.

Are there better ones if you have a specific task in mind? Sure. The Military handles (for me) the widest array of tasks with ease while not compromising on length, ergos, or weight.

I agree but will take it a step farther. IMHO the Military's with Carbon Fiber are the best Spydercos around. I won't be getting rid of my Sage1 or Caly3cf anytime soon but the BG42 and S90V Military's are the cream of the crop.

Gotta get the Spyderedge millie while you can. They were discontinued, I believe, as of this year.

I will toss another vote in for the military. It is my go to folder, and I can't carry anything else since I first got one.

Close seconds would be the PM or PM2, and Gayle Bradley

But that's the good thing about spyderco, they have a "best" model for just about everyone's tastes!

Of the ones I have owned i'd rank them like this. "General everyday use"

1. Gayle Bradley
2. Caly3.5
3. Para2

My favorite has to be from what I own and the most carried is:

The Centofante 4 is great looking, thin and very reliable for everyday and wilderness work. It isn't the best steel or handle material but it doesn't have to, it works as it is.

I gotta go with the Sage 2 or Delica Wave (at least until my Endura Wave gets here)

Well it looks like my Endura was delayed. Based on this thread, I picked up a Para 2 with the money I planned to use on the Endura.

I think I may have a new favorite. I will EDC it for a bit to be sure.

Military and Paramilitary.

Endura and Delica for more economical models.

Never had a bad Spyderco.
