3 little pinks. ;)

Figured I'd start the thread while they're all still in one piece and before I re-handle them.

Any good ideas for some interesting handles?
We've seen it all around here it seems but there has to be something we haven't seen a lot of.

I've got a pink one on the way. I plan on just buying some blue Rit dye so hopefully the scales will turn out either dark blue or dark purple.

You can probably guess that I'd go with wood, but I haven't seen a lot of ctek matrix around. It has to be custom ordered so you can get any color you'd like. The aluminum bits on the top layer polish up beautifully.

That's beautiful as usual Steve!

I was looking at some C-Tek and may be able to get a couple of sets from a 6" scale.
How rigid is it? Would it support a linerless folder? I'm thinking it would but I might as well get some info from someone who's handled it. (pun intended ;) )

That ctek matrix is awesome.

I bought one of the pinkies recently too, when they are about $15 shipped from a large internet vendor.

Yup, same here.
I normally stick with our vendors here but for that price I couldn't resist. Especially since I was looking for a few knives to modify anyway...

I've got some standard ctek and matrix, both 3/16 inches thick. I can bend the standard stuff very slightly but the matrix is rock solid.

It does get pretty soft from the heat of machine sanding, then becomes sturdy upon cooling. I'm working on a set of military scales with it and have no concerns about strength. With such a small knife you should be fine.

Shoot me a pm if you can't find the vendor, I'm not sure they're a sponsor.

ETA: The ctek turned out a bit too flexible after milling for the nested liners on the military. Still may be OK for a squeak, but I haven't tried.

I favor wood but as you are asking for some variety I suggest - Clear or smoked Lexan. You could texture with dimples on a drill press or buy some that is already textured. Also add a layer of Formica type material between 2 thin Lexan or acrylic pieces. There are some really great plastic lam patterns available. Do the google for formica patterns.
Not great options for bigger working knives but for these little beauties could be reallllll nice.

Think I'm going to go with red or wine colored rit dye when mine gets here. (Hopefully tomorrow)

Thanks Steve, PM sent.

Great idea, and it gives me another few ideas as well. Thank you.
They are a nice little platform for some simple personalization and I've got 3 of them so I want to do them all with different materials.

Cool. Post it up here if you'd like. I don't mind and would like to see how it turns out.
I'm thinking the darker wine color would cover a little better maybe(?). Red might still leave some pink. I experimented on orange a few times and it was tough to cover even with double strength black dye. In fact it was a solid failure...

Don't scare me with solid failures! I've never tried to dye before but on a $15 knife why the hell not. I really would like to try orange dye because I dig my orange pingo but figure with pink that's a no go.Hopefully will end up with something like the maroon ukpk.

Are these still available? If so would anyone be willing to PM me with the vender info? Looking but so far haven't found them.

Thanks for responding. Updated membership so I hope PM is working now :) Congrats to all that scored this great deal. Can't wait to see the pictures of how you modified them.
