Squeak, Squeak, Squeak...

I didn't have any red so I moved with what I had. Golden yellow (to make orange). Denim blue (backup to yellow to make brown). Pearl grey (to make dark pink-hopefully red). And dark green (to dye an echelon).

So first up was yellow to make orange. Success. 2cups water. 1cup vinegar. Out on the Coleman stove. Brought to a boil. 15 min soak.

I really like it.

Next was grey to make dark pink. Turned out purple.

Not happy. It's going back in with some yellow.

I had to take one apart to dye today anyway.
3 screws and a pin. Really simple assembly.

It is interesting to note that the pin behind the pocket clip screw is a result of CQI improvements after the Squeak was originally released. I have an early Squeak iteration that doesn't have the pin. This Pink model seems to have D-shaped bolts that fit "looser" than other models - but the pin keeps the parts in registration and minimizes flex. The pin is also removeable and fits into small recesses in the scale.

After the yellow, it's brown almost black

The echelon was a disaster. I used more water because it was a bigger pot. Plus the handles were the same material. Green came out more blue but awkward. So I added all the colors and soaked it for 45 min and got almost black. Oh well.

I found the D-bolts fit tight in the handle and the forward bolt in the back spacer/spring fits tight but the bolt for the pocket clip doesn't fit tight in the back spacer. I removed the clip/bolt and installed a short piece of paracord in the clip bolt hole so I can carry the knife in my watch pocket. There is no play at all opening and closing, pin does the job.
