I'm curious, as a knife maker do you mostly source your antler direct from deer farmers in the US or do you import most?Thank you!
I use elk sheds sourced locally here in California. Lot of folks don't realize it but we have quite a few elk here. I trade with cowboys from all over the area. They find them while out working and know I'm interested. Calif law does require me to use sheds so thats what I do.I'm curious, as a knife maker do you mostly source your antler direct from deer farmers in the US or do you import most?
I'm curious because I'm currently working through the process of sending a set of antlers to a gentleman in MT from here in Australia. APHIS up to now haven't been willing to give clear instructions on the process.
Tule Elk knives! Now that is a rare treat.I use elk sheds sourced locally here in California. Lot of folks don't realize it but we have quite a few elk here. Killer gunstocks Steve. We’ve gotta find the gunstocks thread that’s hidden around this place and resurrect it. You’ve got too many gems not to be curating these puppies in one home base of a thread
That is a beauty where they did the Stag right to the bolsters . I am also sad that I was too late to the party to get that model . Merry Christmas my friend .Little Indian Girl in Stag Covers...

Most of the elk around are Rocky Mtn elk. I've never seen a Tule even though we have a reserve for them close by.Tule Elk knives! Now that is a rare treat.
I’m building points to hunt elk in WY, but Tule is something else.
