Stag Saturday - Let's See Some Traditional Stag!

Ryuichi Kawamura Serpentine Stockman. 3-5/8" closed, ATS34 steel. Amazing fit and finish and I'm very happy to add this knife to my collection!

I've had knives with lots of popcorn before but find they sometimes have a lot of "sharpness" to the scales. This knife has all the character and texture while still being very smooth and contoured feeling. No sharp spots other than the blades.

That is an elegant looking piece:thumbup:

^ I like that it has the grizzly cut jigging to it, cool twist to give it some character rather than just leaving it smooth. GEC does a really great job on the burnt stag.

I know this is an old post but there's just something about this knife. It just reached out and grabbed me. I'll admit I'm a bit weak for the Cattleman styled knives. Those bolsters, that stag. I must have one of these. Off to search the web...........

Beautiful knives fellas. Jsega51 that is some great looking popcorn stag that is on another level. Very cool that it was finished to contain no rough spots. pmek5, I also really like the jigged stag! Very unique and something I have seen very little of. Hoping that 2017 brings more natural, burnt, jigged, second cut, third cut and polished stag to our pockets and collections. Safe to say my admiration and desire for stag has been growing for some time now.

Looks great. I'm quite seriously thinking about buying a #57 wrangler. I can't decide on what covers I want though. I like the simple elegance of buffalo horn and the sattin finish of the Tidioute version, but also the long pull on the Northfield and I found one with a bit of popcorn on the stag. Tough choice!

Outstanding Stag by everyone today. Here is my meager contribution. :D

Meager nothin'!

To me, that's about the most perfect Barlow set up. Checks off all the boxes of a spear point and sporting gorgeous stag.

Lovely.

Thank you Jake & StoneBeard.
StoneBread that is a really nice 57 Geppetto. I'm partial to those Splitbacks :)

I always enjoy checking this thread on Saturdays for the splendid stag examples that get posted. But today seems like an especially good day for stunning stag!:thumbup:

Congrats on the Kawamura stockman, Jake! That one pretty much left me with my eyes bulging and my mouth hanging open! Not only is the stag incredible, but the nearly sunk joints really float my boat, as does the spear instead of clip main! I'll bet you ARE happy to have that prize!

#89 Melon Whittler in 2nd Cut Jigged Burnt Stag.
...
pmek, the jigged stag is super distinctive, and the knife itself looks a mile long!!! What a long, lean beauty!

Stellar stag on both knives, rockman, but I find J Lloyd's stag to be absolutely breathtaking!:thumbup:

StoneBeard, your 57 whittler has such attractive creamy/toasty stag covers on its sensuous curves! And I'll certainly second your New Year's wish that those of us who enjoy it can pick up more superb stag in the year ahead!

As Jake (Steely Gunz) pointed out, Ron, we're not buying that "meager contribution" stuff! :D You had it right when you said EVERYONE had outstanding stag today, and IMHO that includes your Case barlow!!

Pile side of a Stag knife by Mr. H.Ohta with wooden companion....
Your Ohta stag is exquisite, Will!!:cool: It must be great consolation on the long winter nights you've described! ;)

I've been carrying a Case stag peanut all week. It's one of my favorite gun & knife show acquisitions. The stag doesn't have much texture or color, but I've been surprised at the great variety of stag that's available and I like all of it, even smooth and creamy! :)

Wow Jake , that is some very very fine Popcorn there my friend. It don't get any better than that so I will not even try , but I will post the first pictures that I took of my very first 73 in Stag . Deep Valley on the Mark Side and Popcorn on the Pile Side .

Jake, envy just exploded all over me and I'm stinkin'! Seriously though, what a fabulously pocketable, tactile, delight to the eyes your Kawamura is! Love how the blades lie so low in the frame, and I don't think I've ever seen a serpentine with a spear master. Beautifully unique!!

Thank you everyone for the compliments. Here's a shot showing the thickness for anyone interested.
