Stainless steel KMG, Build

I found a chunk of aluminum plate at work that is like 5/8th thick by like 20" x 20" which would work great but now i just need to talk the boss out of it. but i'm with you in that a stainless steel plate would be supper sweet. but for weight i would have to go with .25 thick stuff. I just ordered 3 stainless tool arms that are 24" long.

I did a test run with a make shift tool arm and i ran her at 10,000 SFPM :D:D:D and besides to sound of the drive belt and the 600 grit gator belt it ran smooth as butter.

This is Insane!! hight load of knife makers "bling-bling" can't wait tp see it done

DC

Edit: Ohh forgot. you know you will have to cover that plastic speed thingy box with SS/silver tape and make it all shiny ;)

Next you will need a SFPM readout, Full Floating Platen, 14 inch contact wheel,.... It is a never ending process. BUT WOW this has to be the most tricked out KMG build ever. Now lets see some sparks.

So a nice and clean 320X hand rubbed finish over the whole thing seems appropriate to me!!! :)..........................

:foot: :D

It's crazy.... but way cool Jarod!

it does have a SFPM read out  let me show you :D
I have decided to just leave the tracking arm jeweled and maybe brush the rest of the body or leave it.

This is it runnign at min speed, this can be changed in the programing but this is the lowest i feel safe running the motor.

And this is it running at its set max, this also can be changed but 9000 more then enough.

well i talked to the boss and he told me he would sell me this aluminum plate i spotted. its 20" x 20" x 3/4" thick. its perfect size, i know its not stainless but it will have to do.

i'm sure that it will look fine! has to be better than the plywood.

can you polish aluminum?

Anodizing that base plate might be nice if you go with a dark color like charcoal or black. It would make a nice background for the lighter color of the stainless to stand out against.
