Stainless steel KMG, Build

Well, JT. One thing's for sure. You do know how to do it....well....overkill. :) Great looking machine.

I Like to beef things up and take them to the next level. lots of people make clones but i'm the first to do it all in stainless steel. his name is Stanley, Stanley the stainless steel grinder:D

the funny thing is that i have enough TI to Make a grinder. but thats a little to extrema.

but just think of the fun you could have anodizing it :)
+ it would not be half as heavy as a steel one

so far as a SS platten i would go cpmS110v as hard as you could stand to make it (just do all the work pre heat treat)

Stop teasing me . I have some CPM-3V i could use but thats not really stainless. might just have to use D2 and pretend that D2 has enough chromium to count as a stainless

so i just got the tracking assembly made and bolted on, look's nice. I should have it done in a few days ya baby.

You really should send a photo series of this project to Blade. Might even make me buy an issue :)

WOW! That is the coolest thing I have ever seen! You definately have some serious machining skills!

Is the texture on the wheel from the way you machined it at a high feed rate, or did you put in in later?

i did the drive wheel on a manual lathe and so thy are small steps. i can easily remove them with sand paper once i hook up the motor.

Oh I thought you did the curve with cnc. I have heard that a rough-ish finish helps the belt stay on.

OK update time,
I was going to work on the scribe body's tonight but i have some cnc question that i have to figure out tomorrow with another guy. so tonight i made a part for the grinder yay. My little pulley i made now has a big brother and now there friends. here is a picture. O and also i Finley was able to test out my Stainless steel motor got from the surplus store. hooked it up to a free 3 phase circuit at the shop and hit the switch. At first i thought the motor was bad as i did not hear it ruining but i got close and yep it was almost dead silent and puring away, o baby. so any way all i need to make now is the tracking wheel and the grinders parts are done except for the base which i need to locate but a large sheet of stainless that size is quite pricey so i will have to shop around. picture time, the small pulley is 2" and the large one is 5" and its so shiny and i would even call it sexy. it still needs its key way slot cut but thats not a problem.

Not busting your chops but, How is it that you can program a cnc machine and write and spell so badly that it is hard to read your posts. there is a spell check availible in the upper right hand corner of the message posting box that can be downloaded if nothing else.

Way cool grinder and I am a bit envious of your machine skills

I have a weird problem that happens when type and that is most of th time i know how the spell the word or even get very close but extra letters end up getting in there and i don't even remember typing them. it gets greatly magnified when its late and I'm tired which is almost every night. yes i have a spelling problem but it has gotten better. O and the CNC uses G and M code and its simple to remember. but the pulleys where made on a manual machine

JT,

I also have a spelling problem. Thats why I don't post much. By the time I get it all spelled out I am so frustrated that its not worth it. Funny thing is I can read anything, it doesn't matter how complex the subject matter or how sophisticated the language.
I cant tell you how happy I was to find spell check. Now I can post a little.

Greg

Sometimes the spell check can let you down also. I recently tried to describe how it only takes me a few minuets to make a bow string. I of coarse meant that it takes a small measure of time, not that I had to make them while doing a 17th century dance.

That thing is AWESOME!

Pure and complete genius.....overkill to the 19th step, true, but guaranteed to bring a wicked smile to the faces of chrome junkies and gearheads worldwide!

Best Regards,
