Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts?

Hey guys, we aren't in Whine & Cheese or the Farm Food Forum.
Wash your mouths out with Clorox. (That should kill the taste.) :p

Starbucks triple-espresso with 2 raw sugars, cinnamon, and a splash of Half & Half . . . every night for the past 3 years. Takes me all of 2 seconds to drink it, and I'm good to go.

Starbucks regular brew is swill. In the Summer, try an iced coffee with 5 shots of espresso. This "reformed" tweaker who I see in there occasionally orders an iced coffee with 9 shots. My system cannot handle that much caffeine, and you do NOT want to experience a caffeine hangover (nausea, jitters, insomnia, etc.).

Dunkin Donuts coffee isn't bad, but you can wring the grease out of their donuts . . . and it smells like they've been using the same oil for a month. :barf:

Hi Benchmadeboy,

I drink Timmy's once in a while too, but I still prefer Starbucks by a long shot. I was just in the 'Peg a few weeks ago on Good Friday wondering around downtown looking for a coffee shop. Everything was closed except a Robin's donuts which I haven't seen in Canada in a very long time. It tasted pretty much identical to a dunken' donuts - nut very good...

The nearest 7-11 is good enough for me.

I read an article a while back on Starbucks, and they over roast their coffee deliberatly to get a consistant flavor. Yeah, its consistant alright! I can't stand burnt coffee.

Bowing to my Irish roots, I really much preffer a good cup of tea.

Starbucks espresso/latte. Not as good as the average cup of the Cuban variant that you can get on the street in Miami, but Starbucks tends to have much hotter looking little liberal hippie chicks hanging about the store:D

Starbucks coffee tastes like mud to me. I hate their burnt taste!

I am with you, I very much prefer to bow to my Irish roots as well, and have a good cup 'o tea.

I'm picky on coffee , if I cannot get what I like I most likely will do a Red Bull if I need the caffeine to stay awake.
I grudgingly admit I love Starbucks regular coffe , with cream and sugar of course , not into flavors at all.
I wont even do 7-11 or Quickstop and most of the little drive thru local owned places just dont cut it.
I grind and make my own at home though most of the time , French or Italian roast , maybe mixed with some Ethiopian or Eyes wide open blend.

My ex used to get "cappucinno" from 7-11. You put a cup under the machine a push a button. The "foam" contains some sort of synthetic plasticizing agent, as evidenced by the fact that when she spilled some on her seat it became a non-removable solid coating. Even acetone and a wire brush wouldn't remove it . . . and people drink that stuff! Imagine what it does to your colon!

Starbucks burns their stuff to a point that I can't take it!

I've eaten and drank a lot of cold nasty coffee over the years (Army career guy). However, I would rather lick the tar in front of a Starbucks than drink the coffee!

This is not because of any political bent or bias, I just think their stuff taste worse than burnt a$$ Plus, it's $4 for a cup of burnt a$$!!!!!

blue mountain is on the top of my list, kinda odd since I also enjoy the dark roast on the other side of the spectrum.

I just don't understand the appeal of Starbucks. The coffees not that great and its way overpriced. I guess its a hip "brand" thing. There are other smaller coffee chains (and local shops) that sell better coffee for less. But hey in a pinch Starbucks will do.But really why are they so expensive?
The only time i bother with Starbucks anymore is when i'm in Chapters (the Canadian equivalent of Barnes and Noble).

The part I don't understand is why people still refer to it as coffee after they shovel so much other stuff in there that you can't even TASTE the coffee in it.

The nice thing about living out here in the middle of nowhere is there isn't a Starbuck's within 50 miles :D

Just make mine a cappucino drawn by a real barrista from a real espresso maker in the Cova Cafe on any Celebrity line cruise ship on the way to or from anywhere.....otherwise give me a decaf grande half-soy, half-skinny, iced vanilla, double-shot, gingerbread cappuccino, extra dry, light ice, with one Sweet-n'-Low and one NutraSweet at Starbucko's if I'm really feeling like a turd-bucket.

Between the two, I prefer Dunkin' Donuts. Given a choice, I'd always opt for my french press and fresh ground beans. A good Ethiopian Harrar, anyone? :)

Starbucks = :thumbdn:
Dunkin Donuts = :thumbdn:

Starbucks is too rich and dark, DD is too bitter.

MacDonalds has upped their game to be a contender. I went to one yesterday at 6:00am and the coffee was FREE from 5:00am to 7:00am. No charge. And I bought nothing else. That's a nice surprise!

My local deli has the smoothest coffee I can buy. I give THEM my biz.
