Love love love the design of the monolock from the first post. Can't tell if it's subtley recurved or not. I too would like it if the AO was removable. But that pointy thumb lug may be the deal killer for me, I really dislike those... I'll have to try it out in person to be sure. Other than that, I find the design outstanding, both from a utility and aesthetics point of view.

Yeah, I wish they kept the flipper of the original Lerch on that 790. But it's not a dealbreaker for me. I'll still try and get one ;)
Here are pics of Lerch Custom

I'm just curious, what's so bad with AO, especially that it can be disabled in most of the cases?

Here's another one. Looks like BM intends to compete with Spyderco's Salt series:

Without using a truly 'rust-proof' steel, like H-1 (which they used to use), it won't be much competition for the Salt series.;)

LOL...I didn't say it WAS competition just that it appears to be BM's intent.
I kinda like the looks of it though.

Sorry - no question is a dumb question. At least my grade school teacher said that. That said:

Why does that knife have a round tip and why does it say fixed blade when it has an axis lock on it?

That's because the info is from a page showing two models an axis lock 111H20 and a fixed blade 110H20.

Anyone familiar with N680 steel?

Doing a little Googling I found this:

BÖHLER N680
Hardenable Chromium-Molybdenum steel with Vanadium and Nitrogen addition and excellent corrosion resistance properties, especially in salt water and media containing chloride ions.

C Si Mn Cr Mo V other
0.54 0.45 0.40 17.30 1.10 0.10 +N

I see that Bohler is not giving out the amount of Nitrogen in this steel.

A fair amount of dive knives seem to use this steel.

I don' t know about that...I' d be all over it if it wasn' t Assisted and had that slight recurce...so I' m still undecided.

Did they use corrosion resistant materials for the hardware?
Are the Omega springs made of something different from the regular ones?
Does the catalog mention what the springs are made of? I doubt it.
Unless BM did this, it is worthless.

That knife would be PERFECT if it wouldn' t have that terrible rounded tip...:grumpy:
