starter 2.7

Outstanding news!!!!! Very nice to see you popping in to spread info and joy :)

I agree, on both counts. We've been missing you around here Ellie!

I hope the microtexturing doesn't require such precise work that Guy is chained to the Micro-texturer Deluxe 2000. We need him on the sharpening line!! :D

Ya, I've been busy and also a little gun shy after some recent conversations here. I end up spending half a day here sometimes and I just can't do that right now. We are going to be MIA for a good chunk of June, so I've been trying to get caught up/ahead in preparation. Which is, of course, the time when all these odd problems start popping up needing attention.

The microtexturing is something that Guy is doing because you have to be careful not to change the size of the handles to where they don't match up with the blade. But it isn't very time consuming and eventually we will have an extra set of equipment dedicated to that task, reducing setup times.

That makes sense, I'm sure he doesn't need a batch of scales with enough material removed to where the steel sits proud of the scale material. I'm very excited to see the textured scales and am sure that I will always opt for that when they are available.

I was afraid that might be the case. Sometimes we forget how AWESOME it is to have company representation in our forums. It is great to ask something like "Hey Ellie, is this correct?" and get an answer. Keep doing what you're doing, and let the rest slide off like water off a duck's back

Now, let's talk about my preorder 2.7 with those micro-textured scales......... ;)

j/k! j/k!

Holy cow, looks like I might not have to joke about it. From another thread:

It would end up being faster to just start doing them all. If we were to make it an option there is a lot of added time sorting through orders to figure out how many of each color get what done. That is part of why the ferro notch and bow drill divot are being phased out. The micro texturing will probably start getting phased in through the GSO-4.7 and GSO-2.7s, with the GSO-4.1s being mostly textured and any after that all being done. Just remember that word "probably" there, I make no promises.

Normally it isn't a big deal but the timing was a bit off in this recent go 'round. My stress level couldn't handle any more so I just said "f-it" and stepped off for a little while. Since we are on the topic though, let's keep June awesome. Our schedule is as follows:
Week 1: Guy and I will be out of town. (since you will probably ask: it is not a honeymoon. Rather the best of a bad situation, we will be in Hawaii for a funeral)
Week 2: I won't be around much as a good friend (who I haven't seen in a few years) will be in town.
Week 3: Guy will be out of town, returning with his grandmother.
Week 4: Christian won't be around much, his family will be in town.

After that things should settle in. With Guy's grandmother being here we are actually expecting things to be a lot more productive. That will be one less thing hanging over Guy's head everyday, they are very close so it has been really hard for us to be so far away from her. As a bonus, she does amazing things in the kitchen, meaning we will be eating a lot healthier than we do now.

With regards to the above post, it appears very likely that Monday May 23rd will be a crazy feeding time if there are going to be any Factory 2nds offered up for grab on the Survive! website.

P.S. condolences for your loss and also enjoy the friend & family downtime in June.

You have to take the 'ME' time when it comes. Good luck on your endeavors in the up coming weeks. Condolences for your friend and his family. On a positive note happy to hear your family will be closer.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It'll be a bittersweet month for the two of you but I hope you get to breathe a little bit.
It's great to hear that Guy's Grandma with be with you both!

I am really sorry to hear about your loss. But I hope this month affords you two, now three, some quality time together outside of the shop.

I'm a little late on this, but I wanted to offer my condolences on the loss. Enjoy the high points that June will offer even if it isn't a honeymoon yet ;)

One question, how is Guy's grandma at sharpening knives?????

One question, how is Guy's grandma at sharpening knives?????

She would probably be pretty good at first, until she cut her fingers off. The last time Guy sharpened her knives, her hands were covered in band aids the next day. She is eager to help out, but I don't think Guy would risk her on the grinders. Hahah

Thank you everyone for the condolences. It will definitely be an up and down month in June but we are excited about it. Family, friends, and a ton of delicious food. It would be hard not to enjoy some it.

Ok ok, don't put Grandma to work then :D

Very glad she'll be with you two!

All the best to you 3, enjoy the time and I hope all goes well with the funeral and all your other plans. Hopefully you all get refreshed!
