starter 2.7

In the farther the only way you can get one of these is:

A- hope that they show up on Mondays sales as a Factory 2nd

B- Hope that one ends up on the auction market

C- Survive! opens up the spigot temporarily to place more orders (not holding my breath on this option)

I'll go in for one to see if it fits my wife's hand.

I'm curious to see how it compares to the old 3.5 handle which was too small for me.

When I was looking at the new models I recall thinking that the 2.7 was out of the running because the handle was smaller than the old spec 3.5.
The 2.7 specifications have the handle at 4.0 inches. My old spec 3.5 has a handle of 4.25 inches from the front of the scales to the pommel.

Yes I also put it out of the running (for myself) and did order a new 3.5. My wife thinks the old 3.5 fits her ok, so I'm just basically making an excuse to buy one, for her.

Man, I hope something happens to make it not so tough to snag one haha! Did they already do one release/batch?

As far as we know they haven't touched this model other than getting components into the shop. We are currently at the start of open season for three 4.7 :D

Well I haven't had a Survive Knives grace my collection yet so I will try to snag a 4.7 to slake my thirst for a 2.7 haha!

The 4.7 would make a heck of a first  Yeah, the only 2.7 we've seen is Guy's personal one. He posted it somewhere on instagram after cleaning a rabbit with it.

I really tried to hold back and not adjust my order. I didn't want to add to their workload, BUT I gave in today and change to bone linen handles (figured I don't need much grip on this little knife) and an FDE sheath.

Bone linen looks great, i'm jealous you have a pre order in!

Hopefully the 2.7 is finished at the end of May.

Maybe the team has some plans we don't know about, but if the 5.1 started shipping in November and now the 4.7 is starting to ship in May, I would imagine we'll see the 2.7 in October. That's just a guess on my part, I'd love to be pleasantly surprised!

Woooot!? Lets not hope thats true! ;)

I'd rather think of getting my 2.7 in 2017 but actually receive it in July of this year than three other way around!

I think the "2.7's in May" prediction was made about the same time there was a chance to get 4.7's before Christmas :)

Silver, somehow you always inspire me to speculate wildly! ;)
Ordering for the 2.7 closed in September, I think the materials are already in house at Survive, and I suspect that if the limiting factor wasn't Guy's time you'd see the 2.7 shipping right about now.
Since Ellie has wised up to the frenzy that it causes whenever she releases information to us we'll just have to wait and see.

I feel like I'm moving dangerously close to being a butt by dwelling on this, but in all things I like to think worst case rather than best case. If there aren't any drastic changes between how 5.1's were handled and how they'll do 4.7's I would think it would be realistic for a 6 month period to get out starter orders then presales all while juggling Monday orders. If they haven't gotten to my April 1st order after a month of shipping 4.7's I'm guessing there are a lot of orders to get through.

From the production schedule it does sound like they've had materials for awhile, which is really good news. They can't ship before they're sharpened though and I wouldn't think they'd get to 2.7's until the 4.7's are wrapped up.

Silver, you are probably correct on all counts. :)
One of the reasons why I've been haunting this forum (other than the fact that I've got knives on order) is because I enjoy watching the production updates.
With so many models in production it is kind of like a slow motion rally race.

We are still waiting on some final touches to arrive for the GSO-2.7s before they can start shipping.

They can be finished and sharpened in about half the time of the GSO-5.1s so we should be able to get through those orders more quickly.

There have also been some HUGE advances in Guy's arena, allowing him to be more efficient. Mostly in the form of parts that we have been waiting on for a while, but also in him getting the new finish dialed in. Some of this will be offset by the huge interest in the micro textured handles. He will be starting to do more and more of those, which does take some extra time.
