Sticking my toe in the water: potential sign up sheet for a 17" to 18" Foxy Folly.

Yvsa, I am DEFINITELY in, with the design just as you say. Hell, if they happen to make any variants in blade length or handle materials you can put me down for two of them!

This is the last major model I need to round out my HI collection, other than the Falcatta, which I have given up all hopes of ever getting. However, there is a custom sword maker still making those, and I am hoping to get one from him someday, although I am sure at a much higher price than what HI charged.

Just say the word as to the prepay time and amount and I'm right there with you! :D

P.S. A group buy price of $150 seems about right to me, but that's just my opinion...

Regards,

Norm

Up to 28oz sounds good. Pound and a half sounds even better. I loved my original Fox Folly but I sent it back because it was just too heavy to be practical. A smaller one that was actually useable would be better.

Bruise, "and without the vampire root canal kit to keep costs down." can/will you clarify that a bit?

That's the fancy bag o' tools. The same stuff that comes with the Berk Special. It's nice but probably adds a few bux to the cost. How about a couple of YCS type kardas? :)

That's what I say: YOU SENT IT BACK? Where is it? How heavy was it?

GEEEZE

no man with HIKV sends back a Foxy Folly because its too heavy.

Burn him at the stake!
Heretic!!!

Now that's a damn raffle knife.

Mine was 3 lbs or thereabouts. Maybe slightly more.It was missing a karda or chakma too. I was able to use it to cut through stuff, but no way you could use it for more than one cause it was so heavy it wore your arm out.

It was a shame cause it had the best handle of any of my HI's and probably my favorite shape too. But it was just not practical. Every time my wife walked by it she'd rag on me. "Look at that! That's ridiculous!! What can you use that for baby?" So I sent it back and got an M43 instead.

I think Uncle Bill sold it as a blem a couple weeks later. I got it as a blem. Supposedly a little rust but I never saw any rust on it. The thing was beautiful except in the ergonomics category.

But I'd LOVE to have one that was useable.

I'd rather have one I can use rather than set on the wall. Just how I am ;)

I don't understand it. I've a 25" AK over three pounds and I wish it were heavier- but in a way I don't. I'll be getting a heavy GangaRam next year.
You fell trees with these, Holllow.

You don't carry them on hike or limb. Too heavy? How?

I don't get it. You gotta be stronger than I am. Yeah, your arm gets tired- but so it would if you had a smaller khuk and had to strike the tree 100 times more to do the same job.

Bet this happened when I was gone. I woulda jumped at one of those.

But now Yvsa wants a lighter blade too. He's right for all around use.

I joked at the time instead of Foxy's Fighter it was Foxy's Feller ;)

It would have been great to chop trees down with.

But the original design was to be something light.

I'm all for anyone who wants to use a huge heavy khuk, but I tried my Foxy Folly beside my 17" Ganga Ram and 16" Bonecutter and there was no comparison. The smaller khuks outcut the big one both penetration wise(the FF had a steep angle to the edge) and speed wise.

But you raise an interesting point. Next year at the Khuk Khonference I'll bring a couple of 10 or 12" logs and we can compare how fast a 17 or 18 can go through it compared to a FF or whatever big blade somebody else brings.

I just worry that if the weight restrictions are too tight we won't get enough beautiful pot belly on her....

I don't know. A 17" Ganga Ram has a fairly nice belly and comes in at under 2 lbs. If it was 2 lbs or less you could probably still do it.

A picture would really help my decision, and maybe a few others' decisions as well.

Thanks! I didn't even know about that section on there. Maybe I should look around even more.

Yvsa,

I really like the idea of this smaller Foxy. It would probably end up looking and handling like an overgrown 14" BDC, a model that I dearly love.

Count me in!

Geoffrey
