I have been poking around over at the Benchmade forum and I noticed hardly anyone posts over there these days. I mean it's almost dead. I bet there are not 3 new posts a day.

It used to be close to (but not as busy) as the Spyderco forum.

I still like 'em but they didn't have a lot this year as far as new releases and then the whole debacle with NGK.

I just wondered if you folks still liked Benchmade or if something has swayed you away.

I still like them, I just feel their lineup has become stagnant. Oh look, another 3 inch axis lock folder that looks 90% similar to the other 12.

I wish they'd mix it up a bit. that said, I'd really like to pick up a mini skirmish asap.

Benchmade is still MY favorite knife-brand, and company. I don't post as much as I used to over at the Benchmade Forums, but that doesn't change how I feel about Benchmades...Their still top in "my book".

Benchmade forum? What Benchmade forum? Never heard of it. (Wait a sec... do I really need another forum to waste time on?)

They are my favorite folders. I love the axis and I love my M2, what a combination they make! Steven

If I wanted to give someone a production folder as an somewhat serious gift for the uninitiated, it would be a Benchmade. Some of the Spydercos are find for myself, but can't think of giving it a non-knifenut. That would be like finding the smelliest cheese they sell to give to someone lukewarm about cheese in the first place.

Dann said exactly what I was thinking, Benchmade is still tops in my book as well.

I still like Benchmade very much but their current product line doesn't excite me.

I'm getting tired of laege tactical knives and that seems to be the only type of knife Benchmade is producing lately.

I already have a 310 Benchmite and possibly my favorite Benchmade the 440 Opportunist. Outside of those knives I haven't seen anything from Benchmade that makes me reach for my wallet.

Between the opening hole on the 630, the NGK issue and the fact that summer typically signals a slowdown on the forum it doesn't surprise me that the Benchmade Forum is a little slow.

It seems they have been dropping some of their best models. I'm sure they have their reasons. I have a few Benchmades, and honestly, the ones I already have would probably last a life time, so if Benchmade vanished, I'd be okay.

So until they put out something that I think is better than what I already have they won't be getting much more business from me.

i'm not much for their style for the most part (Spyderco either, i'm not making any friends here am i?)... i have a Monochrome and a Griptillian folder, the only other knives i would think about getting at this point are a Ritter Grip, BM 42 (which basically also has it's own forum) or something in an auto Axis

i like the materials in the Skirmish, but it's too over the top for my tastes

I am pleased with my Grip D2. If we can ask what happened between NGK and Benchmade? Thanks

other retailers complained about the sheer awesomeness of NGK and their pricing, so BM took them off the list. NGK now takes a little longer to get BMs in stock.

I still like BM knives very much, but will order them through NGK. They can wait as long as Mr. Dye does to get paid, since that's the way they want it.

If they made a CA legal bali, or more (cheap) balis in general, they might get more business from me. I also don't like a lot of their newer knives.

I like Benchmade okay...but I just don't find myself getting all that excited about them.
Somehow, they're just missing something...

Except the 710!
It's nearly perfect.

I prefer BM to most other companies. They have taken their product line in a direction that lost my interest though as of late. Like when they killed the 806D2, etc. Hopefully they will come back around with stuff that catches me, if not, there are still plenty of old school BM's out there I want to buy.

It's funny this thread was made because I've recently been thinking about how Benchmade is really losing me these days.

Their designs bore me, and just don't feel and work as well for me as my others do, and I end up selling pretty much every BM I buy. The only thing they have that I actually want anymore are their balis.

They have dropped every design I ever liked aside from the 710, and now I can't get it in M2 anymore, which brings me to that issue. M2 is such a well accepted steel, and they stopped offering knives in it. I don't care for this "everything D2" approach much either.

The amazing fit and finish I used to see on their slightly older knives is slipping in my experience. I bought a few older models and was amazed by how perfect they were, but all the newer ones I've seen have had rough finish, blade play, and offcenter blades and so on.

The story of NGK's Michael Dye did not help my opinion of the people behind the knives much either, nor does their complete absence here, and with any form of customer interaction, really.

I love Benchmade. I'm still green when it comes to knives, so a lot of their stuff is still exciting to me. I just can't afford any of them right now. I'm also not interested in going to a forum that just talks about one brand.

The only Benchmade that's ever really excited me was the 710. I lusted over that knife for a long time before I finally put down the cash for one. It's been my EDC for six months now and I haven't looked for another daily carry knife since.

The rest of Benchmade's catalogue doesn't do a whole lot for me. There was a big deal made over the Rukus when it was launched... I think it's ugly. They're all good knives, a lot of them just don't appeal to me.

I can't see this 710 leaving my pocket anytime soon (I love it), but I also can't see another Benchmade in my future... unless I can find a good deal on a 705.

Of course, I think I'm getting addicted to Spyderco Crickets... and there's still so many Buck 110s out there calling my name.
