Still like Benchmade?

BM has always been a bit like Toyota for me. They make knives that are relatively static designs, and produce them well. I just don't find a lot to be excited about with them, as others have said. The fact that I can't take them apart to clean them without voiding my warranty doesn't help matters much either. I liked the 630, but it was just a bit too big/awkward for my tastes; yet the 635 is just too small. Oh well. Personally the only production company that really catches my attention these days is Kershaw, and that's only because they've pretty much taken the collaboration mantle away from CRKT.

Benchmade knives are nice. No, not exciting, but nice. I have nice knives I can take apart without a hassle. I want more than just a "nice" knife, and honestly if "nice" is what I'm after- at a good price- I'll just go with Spyderco, Kershaw, or Buck.

**It should be noted- as others have said- that given the relatively few new releases this year AND that its summer you should expect somewhat of a slowdown on most product-specific forums.

Benchmade has some quality folders but only a few appeal to me now. The morpho looks great and I would definately buy one if i could carry it here. The only other two that I like are the Activator and the Presideo. I can't justify spending 100 dollars on a TINY fixed blade that I probably wont use and the presideo just isnt that special. I've actually sold all my Benchmades this year to purchase other sharp things. I sold my BM635 to get a Buck mayo and dont regret it at all. The BM was big and quite frankly looked like a knife you could find at chinatown. Definately not soemthing I would want to bring out in front of sheeple. If they could get some designs that were practical and had good ergos I'd definately be interested. And they need more G-10!!!

Its funny that the only people here saying negative things about benchmade are diehard spyderco fans.

Yeah, all benchmades do kinda look the same, like a 49-01 looks like a 140 nimravus. The 630 skirmish does kinda look like a 3300 infidel OTF auto and is pretty comparable to a griptilian.:jerkit:

Between the hole on the 630 the NGK thing, and now their forum is slow, (just like all the othe forums right now) I dont know if i can stand benchmade anylonger (sarcasticly)

Get a life spyderfreaks and stop whining about benchmade. Go and finger your holes:jerkit:

Outside of those knives I haven't seen anything from Benchmade that makes me reach for my wallet.

Go and handle a 707 Sequel then, guaranteed you just won't be able to live without it ;)

Many BMs look alike to me… at least when I see 'em in local knife shop. Of course, Skirmish… and BM's balis became an indutry standard… Still no one BM in my (very humble) collection. I'd get TSEK though, if I could find one.

Benchmade users are serious users. They are not big talkers (braggers) like some other knife owners. They just go quietly about their business.

My Mini-Grips pretty well share equal pocket time to my Delica 4:) AND, now that it's mentioned, that's actually an interesting point for me. I've been pondering a Spydie Millie for a while now, and an alternate I've been considering is either a Presidio, Sequel or 710:) This is going to be a touch/feel/fondle thing for me, I think, moreso than a price thing - up here they are going to cost, and I'm figuring when I make up my mind, I'm going to want it now, and not wait for it online. Unfortunately - the only place here where I can see them all is Target Knives, and in this category, the Lone Wolf/Harsey T2 creeps in there - last time I was there, it winked:)

i'm not much for their style for the most part (Spyderco either, i'm not making any friends here am i?)...

:D

You're not the only one here. I have a few Spydercos but I can't say that I'm a big fan of them either.

I believe that my tastes in knives is simply changing. Now gentlemens folders are starting to appeal to me.

I am still a fan of Benchmade, however I think that discontinuing M2 was a major setback as it was one area that separated them from other knife manufacturers. I also am not the most excited about their newest lineup changes. The only "new" Benchmade I have purchased is the 425 Grav PE/BK, and that was because I found it at an incredible deal.

Also, at the top of the year I discovered Busse and Swamp Rat, both of which are harsh mistresses to my blade money! :D For now I am satisfied with the Benchmades I have, and maybe someday I'll buy another. Or it may be when some newer models come out that excite me more.

I'm sorry, but YOU sir owe me a new keyboard :D !!! I thought I peeped a troll. Smelled a bit like Benchmadenut to me...

Speaking of the Auto, has anyone played with one? It seems a bit steep compared to what you can get from MT for the price, but if its better quality...

I still love my Benchmades even though I've been buying more Spyderco's and Kershaw's lately. Some of my favorite EDC knives are the 710 and Griptilian. I do agree with the some of the others in that they have been kind of stagnent as of late.

I'm living without mine now. :D I really did like it. It was very solid and high quality. The only thing is I can't hold on to that thing if my life depended on it. The handle was SOOOO small. I have small hands and wow that thing was even smaller. I seriously don't understand how people use knives with such small handles. Sold it to a friend that also loved that knife so its in a better home now.
