Maxx, that one makes me ont to get a stockman from them now. I have been waiting for GEC to come out with a serpentine stockman, but between the swedges, bolsters and stag, that is one nice looking knife.I like the etch too.

Thsi thread made me painfully aware that I don't own Case yellow stockman, which now feels like... sin. I am not huge fan of medium stockman, though Case humpback stockman makes exception... so I'll be aiming to get large 3 7/8" or 4.1" Yellow Case stcokman (CV prefirabely) to make it...

Jani, I'd consider a CASE L.Stockman in Amber Bone if I were you, really decent large pocket knife and the bone gets better with age. Nothing wrong with Böker's L.Stockman either, rounded bolsters as opposed to the square CASE, it's also a bit smaller at 4"

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.... :) However, according to tradition, a cigar frame knife with blades in it in a similar fashion as in a stockman knife is called a Cattle Knife. If one should accept this, GEC's knives are cattle knives. And their whittler stockman is neither a whittler nor a stockman. Stockman or stock knives are serpentine frame knives. The cattle pattern historically preceded the stock knife, and almost always had a spear master. Gradually the serpentine pattern with a clip master become predominant. The balance is changing again in recent years. Sorry about the blather. :)

Around ten years ago my whole slipjoint collection except for a stag moose and peanut was all stockmans, probably a dozen or more, and mostly Cases! Transition to now and I'm more branched out and these are the 4 stockmans that I'm currently left with though still more then any other pattern I'm interested in.....

I have two that I haven't shown here and one of them (the CSC) is in my current giveaway and the Case amber bone I will keep. (The CSC is the better knife and prettier too!).

I am new to this side of the forum, but I am trying to get into traditional knives for the long haul.

I have a Case Large CV in Amber Bone, and I have an SS Medium in a burnt orange stag. I dont know the real name for the color. I bought the knife over a year ago and kinda wish that I could find a Large CV in the same color.

I also just bought a Diamondwood Charcoal Buck 301 that should be here any day. You guys can count on pictures of that one.

Here are a couple of pictures of the Stockman knives, the Large Stockman was posted a couple of days ago elsewhere on the forum, and the Medium was photos that I took earlier today for another part of this forum, so some of you guys may see these pictures a couple of times tonight.

I really love the colors on the Medium, its a shame that I didnt know about CV back when I bought it-if I could have even got that color with CV.

My first Canal Street I bought after seeing TLARbb's pics. Fit and finish is very impressive, although you can't tell from my lousy pic.

Pretty cool knife. Good size. As soon as I can get out to the shop and get some Flitz, I'll remove the blade etch -- too flashy for me.

Ed, does that calf roper have an extra liner or are the blades crinked to fit in? It's a beauty anyways. I may have to get one if it's anything like my 56.
