Stockman roundup.. Lets see 'em...

Lots of great knives in this thread. I really like Anthony's Case and Thawk's Schrade.

Couple of Henckels:

Real nice Henckels, Mike!
You have a stellar collection of those babies!!

Here's a nice little S&M equal end cattle knife in green Rogers bone. 3-5/8" closed.

Please pardon the sepia tones-- I took this during my "artistic" period! :p

Seriously, though, how common are spear mains on cattle or stock knives?

Great pair of stockmen Mike. Wonderful stag, and I am partial to those patterns that have the pen blade instead of a spey.

Spear blades on Cattle knives were the most usual, with clips more rare.
But it's VERY rare to see a spear on a stockman!!
Anybody got one???

In my opinion Mike's got arguably the best collection of STAG slippys in the free world.. With the possible exception of our own Smiling-Knife as it may be argued..

Hell, perhaps that might be the subject of a new thread.. :) If that thread happens I'd be keen on it to be sure!

re post 141: Mike, that larger Henckels is real eye candy. I really need to see it on my kitchen counter to be sure, however. The light is nice there... :)

Anthony - With the two liner setup, is there a washer or bushing between the blades, or are they directly in contact with each other?

Hey there lambertiana,

If I understand your question, then no, there is no bushings detected. However, to be clear, the NS liners are by definition the cutlery hardware that separates the blades and operating back-springs to insure proper mechanical follow-up for opening and closing of the blades..

Furthermore, I have included the following image of this discontinued Case Stockman slippy in question to illustrate the mechanical operation you asked about in the hopes of complete clarity..

Best Always,

Hey guys,

Glad you liked the Henckels stockmans. I think I have a few others non-Henckels stockman knives somewhere. I'll try to post them up later.

Thanks Mike. Those Henkels are great.
Anthony, nice shot of the liners. Nothing beats a pinned shield too.

Anthony - thanks for the picture, that cleared things up. You had originally said that it has two liners, but it looks like the normal three - one under each handle scale, and one between the backsprings.

A couple new big 'uns. Case Large Stockman in Amber Bone and Carl Schlieper Eye Brand in stag.

Thanks for the comp pic:thumbup:

Didn't realize the German Eye was as big as the CASE, fine long matchstrike pull gives it added glamour:D
