Stockman Sunday picture show

An old HSB, you don't see many vintage stockman's with wood covers.

Superb example, got that 'burnished' look unique to an old but quality knife, well kept too. Wood does seem uncommon on the older ones yes, wonder why? Just a custom or trend at the time, Stag or Jigged Bone being the default? Seem to remember that in more recent times Queen made the Heritage series that included a Stock Knife in Ebony.

Thanks, Will

Thank you, not sure why you don't see many wood ones, most are jigged bone of celluloid, guess it's just the way they did stockman's back then.

Great shame this series was not continued, was set to be a 20 year run from 2011 but only lasted two years. The idea was reproductions from a vintage 1903 catalogue. However, Queen changed owners and the series was let down by some dubious QC and odd design. The tangs on the blades of the Woodsman were disproportionately large, looking awkward, weak snap too on my bone version. The previous year was non Stock knives but nice enough items I'm pleased to own.

Very different color on that one. May I ask what color it is. Maybe a really light amber bone?

kyhunt kyhunt you have a good eye. That is a NOS Case 6347SS I bought last week - it has been in the display case for the last 7 or 8 years and the sun bleached the brown portion of the color out. Great snap (great W&T all three blades) but a discolored on the mark side. Here is a shot of the pile side, color like you are used to seeing on Case amber bone. OH

Thank you. Even though it’s bleached out it’s still a cool looking color. 👍
