Wow that's another unusual one Rob! Normally the splitback spring setup would be considered a whittler but I don't think I have ever seen a whittler with a punch! o_O Very cool knife! I think we will call it a splitback stockman

The "Eagle Phila." is also a neat story... it was a trademark used by G.F. Creutzberg (1875-1943), they would actually grind off the New York Knife Co. name and stamp it with their own. I believe this occurred after NYK went out of business. From what I remember, they either used complete knives and added their stamp or they put them together from NYK leftover parts. The couple that I have are really well put together knives so I think they added their stamp to the NYK built knife.

Stockman Whittler it shall be . Thanks for the added detail on Eagle, I really need to get a Goins book. Interesting that the Remington and Eagle have almost identical shields and this pattern is one of the few that Remington didn't slap an acorn shield on due to the punch. Although both are 4" closed the Remington is a more robust knife. Slightly larger bolsters and thicker. Also threw in a couple of shots of the tang stamps on the Eagle. You can clearly see remants of the NYK stamps.

While Goins says that Creutzberg used leftover parts from various makers, I seem to recall a statement by BRL that they also used seconds from NYKC. I have one Eagle Philadelphia knife and I can still see traces of the NYKC stamp.

This was one of my fancy Go to Meetin' or "Sunday Stockmans". RR 3 7/8 inch closed "Stoneworx".
I guess it's a "small", since my other fancy Sunday/ Go to Meetin' Stoneworx stockman (presently in Florida) is 4 3/8 inch closed. They didn't make one smaller than this one.

If this particular Stockman whittler is a NYK 2nd I need more please:D It's a nicely constructed knife regardless of who assembled it. Thanks for the additional information :thumbsup:
