Stockman Sunday picture show

Nice collection.
How do you choose which to drop in pocket, and second column on left, the two Uncle Henry on bottom, above the Old Timer 8OT: What model are those? Can't be 885UH's, they smaller than the 8OT. Looks like the third up UH is a 885UH?

"the two Uncle Henry on bottom, above the Old Timer 8OT"
834UH "Rancher". Bottom one is Schrade-US, the one above is a Taylor Schrade. I bought them specifically so I could compare Schrade-US to Talylor Schrade apples to apples using the same pattern.

"Looks like the third up UH is a 885UH?"
The one above is a Schrade-US 897UH "Premium Stockman". It's a timeless classic.

They've all been carried and used by me so that I could really evaluate the knife. (I have no idea how you evaluate a knife if you don't use it.) Every one is a little bit different. The stockman is my favorite pattern and it's a difficult pattern to make. I bought each of these to see how different makers interpreted the pattern.
I have my favorites.
The Camillus-Buck 303 was my daily carry every day for over a decade in the 70's-80's. It's done it's work and is retired.
I still commonly grab a Buck 303. But most of the others get carried on occasion.

Here is my only stockman.
I "researched" lol before getting it and the pen blade ( instead of the spay), its size and the square bolsters did it for me :)

Here is the one my daughter got for Christmas. She wanted one in ebony.

Both excellent examples. I have to say that Case does an excellent job with their ebony knives.

I posted these over in the "SMALLS" thread, but they fit here too.

These are all around 2.75" closed length. The frame on the Kabar is noticeably smaller.

The top knife is a Boker 8388 OTW (Off the Wall) knife. I don't know if Boker still does the OTW's or not. Off the Wall knives, as I understand it, were knives that were basically make out of spare, or odd lot, parts and sold at shows. They were not part of the catalog and weren't regular production.

The Old Timer is a 108OT Junior Stockman. The tang stamp is ground off. These days, I'd suspect it was a Chinese one somebody wanted to pass off as USA made, but I bought this from a big knife store in the Smokies immediately after Schrade's bankruptcy in 2004. This was before Taylor bought the name and started production in China, so I know its a USA knife. It was wrapped in cellophane type plastic with a bar code on it. They had a whole table of Schrade's like this. I suspect it was made out of the remaining parts as the factory was closing down.

The Kabar 1071 has seen a lot of use. Sometime in the late eighties I think it was, I lost my Schrade. Dad asked what I wanted for Christmas and I told him a new pocket knife. I was mostly working in an office at the time and told him I wanted a small one that would carry nicely in slacks. He got me this Kabar. It was my daily carry for probably 10 years. It was the first knife I carried that long without losing  Its been through the washing machine I don't know how many times  Great knife. Will never be for sale  :)

I haven’t purchased a new Case stockman in many years because they don’t seem to know how to crink the blades properly. Here’s one I ordered over the Christmas break. As you can see from the sheepfoot blade, they still don’t know how to crink properly. Other than the crinking problem, the rest of the f&f is pretty nice.

Dont be too hard on them, a stockman with no blade rub exceeds the norm.

Yeah, it’s just one of my pet peeves of the knife world. I do have a few brands that don’t seem to have as much rub though.

Here’s a knife that is puzzling to me. I can remember most of The Who, what, when, where of my knives, but not for this one. I have no clue where I found/bought it. But, it definitely goes in Stockman Sunday!
