Queen 49 with Amber Craved Stag Bone (ACSB).
Just what I was going to share. Queen's amber bone looks even better in person. Here is mine along side a queen made Winchester sowbelly.

I always loved a large stockman. Case 75's and Queens #49. The ACSB covers on the Queens can't be beat. The grinds on the 75's are better. If only the two could meet.

Beautiful ACSB on both of those, IMO the prettiest handle material short of stag but even then it's a close race. The large 75 or 49 pattern is a favorite in my stockman accumulation. My Queen WCSB (I think that's right) has stainless blades and is much thinner ground, all the D2 Queen's I have have very thick grinds but still are excellent knives. Another large stockman I'm fond of is the large Camillus, don't have a pic handy but will post one another Sunday.

Prester John Prester John ACSB and WCSB are excellent scales yes but Stag they are not, Carved Stagbone is bone deep cut and coloured to give the appearance of Stag.

Queen's ACSB is really fine stuff, couple of Teardrops I have in it are super knives, a Muskrat too.

Thanks, Will

That Big Case has seen some work, yet still tidy  It's a knife I can carry in winter in a top coat as I find it too heavy/bulky for trouser pockets, incredibly good pattern though.

Like others, the ACSB is some brilliant stuff but I also liked the WCSB which came on D2 knives as well. Once you get that D2 set it's a real workaholic and I regret never getting a 49, saw some once in very attractive Zebra Wood - a later finish after the Stagbones and the Cat barf Bird's Eye Maple which I didn't like but like Osage it does change colour a bit so it can be OK.

Thanks, Will

Much as I love the stockman pattern, I seldom have much use for the spey blade. To my knowledge, this Case Carhartt is the only punch stockman with stainless blades Case has made in recent times. The punch on this one is very well made with a nice sharp edge. I've used it to punch holes in leather and the sharp edge really works well to dress up edges of the hole.

Well gee thanks, now there's another knife I had to put on the list. As many stockman as I have it's funny I have none from Case with the punch. I have them from other makers and several GEC 29 but not a Case. Never saw this Carhartt version until now and the hunt begins.

Spey blade is great for circumcising cigars.

Spey blade is great for circumcising cigars.

I'll keep that in mind. Haven't smoked in a very, very long time. Not even "recreational" smoking, which is now legal in California.

Several decades ago I worked in a materials development lab and needed to trim excess rubber material from its backing sheet on a regular basis. I found that the best tool for that was a "dull" knife blade. So I kept the spey blade on my Buck 303 at just the right sharpness that it would cut the rubber, but not the backing. But that was 30 years ago and I've not found another suitable use.
