Stolen Blade Annoyance

not annoying. total bull---- thievery.

still your property.
Agreed. I’ve been here at the house waiting to see if they are going to honor their word to return it. Didn’t want to report it and get them banned from base before today in case they decided to bring it back. But whether they do or not I’ll still report it and the dumb pet on them, theft of $500 or more is a felony in GA, much less theft from base. Maybe they didn’t know about knives and realize the value of them

The driver that hired and brought them called us today and the story changed from yesterday. Now they are saying they put it in a box, the driver looked and it wasn’t there. So we told him we were going to file it in the paperwork and we wrote it on his. He said that he told them it’s documented now so anyone that does contract work will see that they took high value items from a home and that if they didn’t want that showing in the database that they all use that it needed to be found and returned. At this point though I’m done, they have a totally different story than yesterday. So I’m putting those details in the final paperwork and claiming them so it has to be paid for just like any other damaged items, even though the Busse is unable to be replaced at what I paid for it

When they realized they've committed / been accessory to a FELONY maybe the stool pigeons will start singing.

That’s true. I mean GA has a $500 threshold for theft to be a felony, and as we all know, the Busse alone is around that and I know the folder was $250.

You ever get them back?
Nope. They never showed and just made excuses on putting them in a box that the driver checked and said went there. I also found a few other things missing today, like large rechargeable batteries that we use to recharge the kids devices on road trips.
So everything is getting reported in the paperwork, they will be listed as taking items from a home and blacklisted from working on base. Then I’ll claim it with the moving company.

Man I am sorry. I was really hoping for a good resolution to your problem. Hopefully karma catches up with them.

Yea I was hoping they would do the right thing too.
Even claiming it they will give me maybe a couple hundred on a blade that is no longer made and wouldn’t even cover the cost if I found one on the secondary market. There is no telling what I’ll find missing once we start unpacking in Vegas

I'm sorry to hear, Adian Adian . I was hoping for those idiots to learn a lesson and right a wrong... I don't have a Son of SWAT, or I'd help... Hope you don't lose much else!
Same. I just can’t believe that to these folks stealing something from a home is worth giving up access to the biggest employer of moving companies in the area and all of the money that entails. I just don’t get the thought process. Guess it’s a good thing my Night Vision and other super expensive things were hidden or locked up in a huge dry box

Sorry all of that happened to you. Thieves suck, regardless of the details.

You were more patient and understanding than most. As soon as the story changed, I'm glad your benefit of the doubt evaporated! When the story changes after a little pressure, it's a good bet some lying happened at one point and is probably still happening. It shocks me how people can be so cavalier about stealing from people or how others don't seem to think it's a big deal.

In a better world, we could hope you get your property returned. I am skeptical than any measure of justice will result, but we can hope.

Adian, you don't have a gold membership so you can't PM me back. I'd like to help you. I don't have a SoS... But with that said. Give us a good description of your knife. What type of handle did it have? Was it a user? Was it coated? And, if you don't mind me asking, what unit are you with, how long have you served, and how long do you plan to serve? Also, what part of the country are you gonna be in?

I have a couple idea's... It seems like others want to help too. Maybe we could work something out.

Edit: Scratch that for some reason it's not allowing me to send you a PM either. I haven't been on since the site changed formats, so it might be something I'm screwing up.

Re-edit: I have asked for approval before making any suggestions public or private to ensure that I am not violating forum rules.

Yea I hadn’t been on much in the last year or so and realized when I came to post that my Gold had lapsed, so I’ll have to get that renewed next month since the 2000 mile move has been quite expensive!!! I have been keeping up with things with Busse through the FB group as time permitted.

As far as the rest, I’m retired from the Marines a little while back but my wife is still active duty so I’m following her around until she can retire in ‘24. She was promoted to Major about 18 months ago and she just finished a school at Fort Benning and we were sent to Vegas of all places.

Hey, grats on retirement and a big hell yea on the wife making Major! That's big deal

Adian,

We've got you covered my friend. We will issue you a shop credit good toward the original cost of your knife minus what the insurance will cover in order to make this a "no-loss" for you.

Hope this helps and it is important to note that we were contacted by numerous Busse forum members who wanted to chip in and help out! These are some great HOGs!!!

Let us know the amount and it will be done!

Let's Drink!

Jerry
