Stolen Knife Alert

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I finally got paid by the USPS. It took forever and I had to jump through a lot of hoops. I agree that registered mail is the most secure and usually use it for the expensive stuff. Wish I had this time. I'd still like to locate the knife. If anyone sees it, please let me know. Thanks,

Pete

What Keith said.

Trouble is odds are the scum that ripped it off has no idea of what he has, but there is always a chance it will show up somewhere. :grumpy: :(

Hang in there, you never know where something will turn up. I shipped a tomahawk Priority Mail from Washington state to Massachusetts. In watching the tracking on USPS.gov it somehow ended up in a dead letter pile in Wisconsin and 37 days later the 2nd Day Priority Mail package got to my customer after I had already shipped them another via UPS. They loved it so much they kept the 2nd one and paid for it but I was worried. Then this weekend I sent a Priority Mail package from here to NJ - took 6 days. I called USPS yesterday and today and they had no idea where the package was. I was lucky the customer let me know they got it today.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I've had nightmares with every major shipping service.

Not too long ago had a package with label intact delivered to a customer in california when the label was clearly addressed to HI, the customer in CA was kind enough to forward it to the customer in HI.

Never sure what's gonna happen....

My score for UPS vs. USPS is one - one. Someone at the postal service opened a shipment from AG Russell and stole a couple of knives. Someone at UPS in Albuquerque stole a gallon of rust preventative for historic roofs. I guess that's not bad considering the number of items I've had shipped over the past few years.

I wouldn't ship a dead rock through FedEx. Not around here anyway.

FWIW, I used part of the $$ to buy a nice looking Jim Walker bowie from Knifeart. Fantastic looking stag. Haven't seen it in person yet, but the pictures look great. From what I've seen, Jim's knives are right up there with the very best. Fit, finish, feel, etc...is very impressive. I think I'll send Larry an address confirmation, just to play it safe. Right now...

sorry about you loss mate . i have a question if you don`t mind? if the knife shows up after you`ve been paid out , what happens to it , may i ask?

It actually belongs to the USPS. I don't know if they are anything like Canada Post, but I have had something show up after it was lost and being paid for it. Canada Post told me just to keep it and didn't want their money back.

I'll handle that issue if and when the knife shows up. Which I doubt will happen. I'd notify their headquarters and they'd probably let me buy them out at a reduced price. I have a buddy who's a very senior postal inspector, so I'd go through him. I had thought of offering $500 cash, no questions asked, for the knife. I decided that I won't allow whoever took it or has it, to profit even one penny for selling me MY KNIFE. I will say that if someone has bought this knife and is holding it, then you're in possession of stolen property and if I find you, I will push 100% to see that you're charged. I would suggest that the knife gets sent back to me anonimously, in which case I will not pursue it. Just send it to Jim Walker with a note explaining. I'll update this thread with his address.

Send it to:

Jim Walker
22 Walker Lane
Morrilton AR 72110

Send me my knife and then go back to who YOU got it from, for your $$ back. BTW, stealing from the USPS carries very heavy penalties and my promise to keep searching to to prosecute 1000% is not an empty one.

Surely somebody, somewhere, has seen this knife. Thanks and please keep an eye out.

Pete
