Strider .75 AR Controversy

I really like this forum but am learning many here are followers or bros, just amazing to me. How can you idolize a knife, just seems weird to me, especially idolizing a maker like he is God. It is a piece of steel that is easily, yes, easily made to a sharp point or edge that is mimicked over and over yearly by new gimmicks. The key is that who pays biggest in marketing will have those who will follow most. Look how people respond to Strider knives, some hate him and feel tough talking shit about him on internet, the other half swing off his balls with his brilliance of knife making? To me, both are dumb and dumber, they made a movie about it. In reality, the knife is a knife, it doesn't do anything special that any other knife will do.

"How can you idolize a knife, just seems weird to me, especially idolizing a maker like he is God" - Have you ever watched the Kardashians? :D:D:D I used to have the same exact question and over a time it answered itself... Some people are stupid, some are idiots, some are trend and/or logo slaves, some are plain crazy and some just toxic hateful f*cks. I've seen them on BF as well. They are everywhere, too many idiots - not enough bullets!

So you are not saying my beliefs are crazy after reading all the crazy knife nuts here? You may be nuts as well with the bullets, lol. I have learned a lot here, love making knives now, built many tools from learning from this site in just 4 months. Just need to weed the nuts out but keep thinking, maybe I can start selling to them with a new and improved make believe material and gimmick. Of course, will need to advertise with a whole new profile.

The M.STRIDER stamped SMF I just received is one of the most well made knives I've ever owned, and I have had a pretty fair amount of high end production folders. Blade is very well made, quite thin behind the edge and a beautifully polished stonewash finish. I actually prefer a true titanium R.I.L. (no insert) and it is becoming less and less common in USA made production. The detent and action are both superb, and the milled aluminum scale with integral backspacer is quite unique and in my eyes beautiful. In my hands it evokes the Hinderer XM-24, but in a decidedly more nimble way. I for one am very impressed with this knife.

I buy knives that I like. Not because Rick Hinderer was a fireman. Not because Ernie Emerson is a martial artist. Not because of anything specific to Chris Reeve, Sergei Shirogorov, Greg Medford, Alexander Cheburkov or any other production knife I've ever bought. Custom would be a different story. I do admit that for a very long time I deliberately ignored Strider knives because of the stolen valor story. I eventually tried a Protech SNG, and realized I was only punishing myself, as I absolutely love the ergo's of the design. I was then shocked to find out how great the current M.STRIDER production models are. I know nothing of this .75 AR model, but will look into it - FWIW, every production model I've had made by MKT has been very well made, and the one custom Medford I had was tremendous.

I'm using Officer's Match Officer's Match picture, but this is what gets me about the design. Look how much extra space there is between your hand and where the blade actually starts. That's basically a 3" cutting edge on a 9" long knife.

Mickey Burger's sh*tty personality and disrespectful lies aside, this is one of the biggest flaws of the Burger SMF or SNG knives - the unnecessary double choil and the lost premium bladesteel real estate, resulting practically in much smaller blade closer to 3 inches basically. The pocket clip... I think Mickey Burger was on serious hangover when he designed that pocket clip, very lazy, no soul...

Overall it's not a crappy knife but it's not the almighty ruler of the knife world as some claim and praise those SNGs and SMFs. It's good knife and I have much better ones that I bought $100 price range... For me it's a collection asset that I will trade in future if the value appreciates, that's the only reason I keep my Strider SNG and SMF I bought them dirt cheap, as they should cost.

I think that's actually a feature from Mickey Ray's extensive background experience, it's meant to make it easier to help you steal a car.

I like the finger choil. I like it on Hinderers as well. I have no interest in persuading anyone to like Strider knives. I have my fair share of pretty good knives, and I find the SnG and SMF I've recently acquired (both M.STRIDER stamped) to be of excellent quality and I very much appreciate the design. To each his own - have a great day all!

This is why ive hated striders from day 1 this is the last thing I need in a folder besides the fact the knife is ugly, ive always hated the shape, the way its shaped almost like a triangle .
