Strider "knives"? - no way!

Sundsvall, who makes that fantastic Khukri? I love it!

From the shack in Reno. Himalayan Imports. This khukuri is awesome. Comes with a lifetime guarantee, but I doubt I could hurt it, short of throwing off a tall building, or using hydraulics.

I think I need I have to start using it with my non-dominant hand, one forearm is getting bigger than the other.:D

The AR and GB weren't really the first Strider-designed folders. The Buck-Striders were.

Is this true? I was not into Striders yet when these came out, but seem to remember their folders were already out.

Wow, one guy complains about a knife company and three or four people ended up wanting to buy one...

With enemies like that, who needs friends?

Personally, i love striders.

As i travel around the country, i meet many professionals who use their blades daily, and frankly, i've yet to meet anyone who has told me they were unhappy with their purchase and use of a strider.

Strider knives aren't meant to be bright, shiny or flashy, just to be strong and reliable. Thus far, all who has used one for any length of time, that i've met, has felt that the Strider company has fulfilled their mission.

I really like having my striders, alongside with my sebenzas, my hossoms, randalls, etc.. hopefully, you get the idea.

There are many great knives on the market, we the consumer are lucky to have choice.

If i could only have one knife, it'd be my choice to have a strider.

We all know that every once in a while, when business is slow, Mick trolls under an alias and bashes Strider, and gets business going again. :)

To any who are now considering a Strider folder, my opinion is get an AR, the SnG is a nice knife, heck, get both, but the AR is the ultimate bad-ass knife and completely embodies the Strider philosophy of tank-like construction. I have some nice custom tacticals, if i had to choose one, it would be the AR, its just so baaaaaad. If you have handled the Buck Strider folder and were impressed by its thick, solid construction, well, lets just say the real AR makes the Buck look like a flimsy toy. :)

I will go on record as saying that Strider has definitely tapped into the "cool factor" element behind what drives tactical knife sales, he knows exactly what will make us testosterone filled men weak in the knees, he has all but cornered the market on cool factor and thats why he can charge what he does, he deserves it. But, also, at $350, the AR is definitely not a bad value, its a well made folder, though i do see how $400 for some of the fixed blades with cord wrap might seem high to some. But, again, cool factor goes a long way, whether we choose to admit it or not. I also often see a lot of "art" in some of the blade grinds. He makes knives that really appeal to lots of people and he charges what he thinks he can get, which is exactly as it should be.

$350 for an AR? If you can find one, that is.

Also, as I understand it, the buck striders did come before the "custom" folders.

I was at the CKG show too. Funny enough at the end of the day, all the STRIDERS had been sold! That must say something....

Not shiny, just tiger stripes. Perfect for the armchair commando. :p

OK, I don't really feel that Strider knives need a defense from me, Besides, all these great people and knifemakes did that already. I will voice my opinion though. I personally love Strider knives and think they look great and are very comfortable to use. I have a GB, a HT and a SLCC. My HT is a 1/4 thick ATS-34 tiger striped fixed blade with a serrated spine. It is my primary field knife and cuts very well and is very sharp. I love the way it looks and is very comfortable in my hand. I like the cord wrapped handle. Yes, I am comfortable that I could use it as a pry bar, but it is most definitely a knife. There are many people here and elsewhere who see Strider knives the same way as I do. I am only speaking for myself (though others may agree), if you don't like Striders then DON'T BUY THEM!!!!! Their are plenty of people who know what a Strider is built for, so please leave them for those people. I'm sure Mick will survive without your funding.

Up to this point there are 96 posts in this thread that I started. This will be post #97. I don't want to cause any unnecessary trouble (yeah, right), but I'd like to get the number of posts in this thread to at least 100. Sort of like doing a century in cycling (century: a ride of 100 miles; I've done a number of them). So that's what I'm doing.

As to me being like a Ken Doll below the belt- no way!
I wear size 13 shoes, and you know what they say - big shoes, big.....
