Strider let down

Reading this Strider thread, and the many others in the queue should make the most strident big spender reconsider his knife buying habits, and buy something more sensible and utilitarian, not to mention superb fit, finish, and QC, like a Spyderco Delica or PM2, and put the remainder of the money in a college savings account for your kid(s).

Nahhhh, buy 3 or 4 good knives and make sure your kids are responsible enough to pay for it themselves. ;)

I say this with slight levity as a somewhat recent B.A. grad who knows how tough it can be. But all things considered, I'm glad my parents didn't have to pay... they could never afford it.

This should be a sticky!
I got dogpiled once for saying nearly the exact same thing.

Unfortunately that can happen from time to time on some of the hotter topics, usually the Mods will step in if it gets out of control though.

Has anyone here completely worn out a liner lock in a matter of years, etc?

I have. It was on a $9 Spyderco-wannabe beater knife made of cheap materials, but I used until the blade was super jiggly. That was my first liner lock, and even though I wore it out it was the knife that got me interested in modern folders.

It is a Yuna Knives EQ-1. For being so small the knife fits my hand like a glove being a 3 finger grip knife.

Good luck if you like it. Damn near impossible to get one. Not sure if he is even making knives anymore. I haven't seen a new one in almost a year.
Oops getting off topic.

I actually have a question relating to this thread.
Do the lock issues ever come up on the MSC or DDC knives? Considering the cost and the fact that they are supposed to be Full Custom I hope not... but I am curious.

Mick had to disassociate himself from Dwayne Dwyer because his customer service was so awful, quality issues that took months upon months, if at all, to get fixed. Never heard anything bad about MSC's though.

Interesting, thanks!

Not at all, the performance series and MSC customs are completely different than the production Striders, night and day difference. I don't have a DDC so I'm in the dark on those.
BTW, I may have a couple of MSC's

If we are going to require people post pictures of a defective knife to prove they are having a problem then we also need pictures of all these "perfect" knives im always hearing about. This idea that "most people who gripe never owned or saw one business?" Its pure conjecture. Just because you dont want to believe something doesnt make it a lie by default. If you two need pics to prove defects i need proof of this "most people" business. i know you didnt say it but you claim to have said the exact same thing. So i will ask you both. How did you fact chack this information before either of you tried professinng it as such?

Not a bad point at all and I completely agree.
As a matter of fact I do try to lead by example and post pics of my 'perfect' knives all of the time as well as give sincere thanks to those who start complaint threads and take the time to show pics of the problem.

Here's mine before I sold it. Never had any issues, lockup and fit and finish were excellent.

There are one hell of a lot more of the more positive photos etc around than the negative. ;)

Not usually.

Same as my 1st response.

Typical patterns... Like the same usual suspects showing up in every thread labeled Strider for example?

Fair enough. Thank you for as you say leading by example. Still sometimes i wonder if there are dishonest people on both sides. Sometimes the stories good and bad many time read too much like fiction.

That makes since, there are are both fanboys and trolls out there.

I would hope so. It sould be a shame if a company had more negative threads than positive. If it were equal then i dont think that would say much about the quality.

Still....
Im not sure you proved anything, lol. From what you have said and the lack of supporting evidence to support your claims it would appear you are simply saying we have to take your word for it. Sorry but if you are going to call the majority of people who complain about an issue liars i will need more than a "because i said so" as evidence. Repeating yourself is not the same thing as explaining yourself.

So many have been busted over the years....

That said it's very hard to argue against a picture. ;)

Strider is a popular troll topic and they always seem to show up.

Well i missed well all of them. I have seen blatant trolling but it was obvious from the first sentence. But i have never seen established members with credibility get caught lying about such things. The occassional 1 post to his name and banned to the fifth power guy occasionally trollls it up. But usually those fires are put out before they do much damage.

I dig my 110v SnG. I bought it used here and it has no issues with centering or lockup. Strider is a polarizing company for a number of reasons so any discussion about them tends to get heated.

I have no experience of the quality of Strider knives and no opinions on the topic.

Proof of how a machine works is seldom provided by still pictures.

People's motivation is relevant to the weight to be given their statements, but what goes to weight is not grounds to exclude the testimony. Each individual will make up his/her own mind based on what they hear and see.
