"Loudly exclaiming 'Nope!' ". Hahaha. Classic.

For $400 I would want a very high level of quality/fit&finish too.

If Spyderco and ZT can do it for $120 , why can't everyone?

But yes , maybe you just got a blem.

The most obvious answer is that each company hasa different target demographic. Not all companies shoot for the same cutomer, guy.

I don't have to show you anything , guy. No one said anything about ti frame locks and 100% American made anything from Spyderco and ZT.

.

Oh well, I thought we were talking about Strider knives. Which meet all of those criteria. Enjoy your purchase.

The past is in the past, I have not read not do I care to know what happened. He has apparently moved on. Yes Striders are on the expensive side, they are also built very well. I have 2 SMF's at the moment and want a third when the S110V's come out next year. People are not infallible, remember that.

S110v's are coming out next year ?

Show me a Spyderco or ZT that has a titanium framelock, premium steel, and is 100% made in the USA for $120, please.

Spyderco manufactures 80% of it's knives overseas, from my estimate. And you aren't getting a ZT titanium framelock for $120[/

What I DID say is that Spyderco and ZT both make great knives with exceptional fit&finish. Esp for being $120 or under. Regardless off being made in Oregon , Golden or Tai Chung.

Absolutely right

Don't give me that 100% American made when it's being made by some valor stealing scumbag. I love buying American when I have the option but Burger is in no way a step up from the chinese shops working for kershaw or spyderco.

$120, no. However, check out the ZT0801 and what they are going for.

Pretty much all of my ZTs have been better built than the Striders I have had pass through my hands. (Which were all pre-lockup change)

What's "pre-lockup change" exactly?

I'm still learning

Thank you for your service, Jimmy1982

Everyone likes to bring up Strider's past, which I frown upon myself, but nobody ever mentions Strider's present. I see many charitable contributions to Veterans and Wounded Warriors Foundations. I see battlefield worthy knives in the hands of current service members overseas. A google search turned up a Strider auction to benefit the family of a fallen soldier.

Maybe I'm the only person seeing this?

They built their reputation on making military knives. They were exposed for being frauds. Best damage control they can do is not mention their lies and try to get good publicity by supporting the military.

Getting back on track, I had a PT but was unimpressed. The blade's total length vs useable length was disappointing, as was the poor factory edge on a $300 knife. I also want to be able to take my knife apart to clean and adjust it without voiding the warranty. I personally do not care for the flames or camo look, but the stonewash finish are decent looking. Overall, for my money I would spend (and have) a little more for a CRK or a custom.

They changed how the lock bar engages the blade. They use a larger wheel to grind the angle.

I can almost bet that if the Spyderco Southard was made in Golden than it would be right at about the same price as a SNG, also the 777 is about the same price as a SNG.

Also please ask Rick Hinderer and Chris Reeve why there knives are priced in about the same ballpark. They are by far the three best makers of production TI frame locks so perhaps these knives cost this to make while still turning a profit.

I have experience with ZT as well ;)
They make a great product, with an excellent warranty too.

I still crave an SnG/SmF tanto

That's a really bad argument. Chris Reeve's knives are priced in that range because of their extreme tolerances. Striders aren't finished anywhere near as well.

The SNG I messed around with a B&M store while I was in Dallas was on par with my fathers Sebenza 21.

I will agree some of the older Striders were rough around the edges but I really do think the newer ones are at that level of f&f.

My 5th Gen SnG was as smooth as my Sebenza and Umnumzaan.

I regret selling it.

I haven't bothered to check out any of the newer ones myself (I already know I will never support him) but I've seen plenty of complaints that they are still having issues with blades that aren't centered, still have lock rock, screwed up grinds, etc.

I know you can't expect perfection from any production company but for their price point this shouldn't be such a common occurrence.

Sebenza 25 compared side by side with my new SMF and there is really no huge difference in fit and finish. This SMF is on the same level as the Sebenza.

Except that my DGG SnG and Umnumzaan actually are in the same ballpark quality-wise.
The Umnumzaan is a bit better in that regard, but not by much.
Mt older SmF is not as well finished as the Umnumzaan, but still exhibits a fair level of quality.

I don't entirely doubt the story of Strider lemons, but I have not encountered them. My only complaint is the unholy level of loc-tite they slather the whole length of the pivot screw.

And they should be about $150 cheaper. :)

If you find where they are hiding please drop a brother a line:D

Striders are great. A lot of the negative voices seem to be from those who haven't had a hand on one in years or swear to never touch one at all.
