Maybe next time, it might be not such a good idea to return an item in a pouch that you then would like back again?

I thought I was getting the knife back at the time.

Man the lockup on that brand new Strider sucks. Whomever made the blade tang like that should be fired. Strider could learn a great deal about liner locks and frame locks from Benchmade and Spyderco.

That pic of the lockup is so silly. I can't believe that they would do such a thing. I have seen $50 liner locks with better tang grinds than that.

What a shame.

USAFSP, thanks for your remarks. I agree with all of them. Here's an update:

After Strider got the knife back they sent me an email stating that they could fix it easily but I'd have to pay the $15 because they said the knife looked used. I assured them it was brand new but they stuck to their guns and said it was used so I needed to pay shipping. (Mick later went so far as to say it looked like I dragged it behind my car which I understand to be an exaggeration but it's funny what he thinks of his own brand new knives.) The funny thing is that I didn't bring up the condition of the Ti in my initial email to Strider because I've been lulled into accepting "Stridermarks" on thier folders. I just wanted the other issues fixed until they brought up the dings and such and were using it as their reason for me having to pay more for shipping. I even shipped it in one of my Strider Custom bags so it wouldn't get any more dinged up in the ziplock that Strider sends knives out in.

I was then going to repost this same thing over at JD but I didn't want to sound like a pissed off ex girlfriend so I went straight to the horses mouth so to speak and posted my experience/frustration over the knife in question at the Badlands forum. This was not to anger anyone, it was to let others know my frustration. I got a couple of decent replies before Mick replied alluding that I was a liar and that I was trying to pull a fast one for a new knife. I calmly restated that it was new and was basically told I was a liar again. (and no, the word liar never came up but it was fairly obvious what Mick's point was) I assume Mick then talked to the dealer I got it from and found out that I was indeed telling the truth about the whole thing and he apologized and offered to make it right but, at that point, I just wanted my money back. Which BLG got for me.

What makes me sick about all this is I love my personal current lineup of Striders, they either came right or I've already gotten them serviced, but after the way I was immediately treated I want to sell them all. Which sucks cuz it's all I carry really anymore. But... I dread ever having to send any more in for service. And yes, Mick did apologize, but after the way he was talking about me before he found out that I was telling the truth truly put me off to all things Strider.

Sooooo, in the end, I got my refund and sent it to a guy for an Elishewitz TAD Dauntless which is the only custom knife I ever felt bad about selling afterwords. And I still won't be buying any more Striders.

ps. I've been waiting a week to update this so it may have come out a little jumbled. Let me know if you need any clarification and I'll try to do so. Hope this makes sense.

See that's a shame. However I feel differently. If a company screws me over and I still like the current knives I have, I will get rid of all of them because I don't want to have any of that companies products period.

I say you sell off all the Striders and get some other knives. Get yourself some Spyderco's and Benchmades that will have pefect fit and finish and will not ship your knife in a ziplock bag.

Screw Strider.

I've seen better lockup on a ten dollar smith and wesson framelock. :grumpy:

I fail to see what the attraction is buying overpriced knives made by arrogant and condescending people.

The attraction in my case is having a knife that will perform its intended function every time. If you fail to maintain or inspect your knives and they had a defect in them, that is a completely different story. I can sympathize with the thread poster in that the lockup on that knife is terrible, however, I have 4 striders, one brand new one i got today, it is utterly perfect, in finish, lockup, and geometry. It was shipped in a strider zip baggy, inside another baggy that the retailer put it in (steeladdiction knives rule) I have only ever had one problem from a strider knife, on a BUCK-strider at that, one of the clip screws managed to strip itself, I emailed Mick and had my screws in 3 days IIRC. Ive always had good experiences with strider knives. sorry about your's though, paying 400$ plus for a knife sucks when it doesnt arrive perfect.
one last thing, you might call Mick arrogant and condescending, but he can make one hell of an unbreakable knife. that is for sure.:D :D

And some ppl wondered why I sold all my Striders. I've owned 8 Striders and I can say that except for my very first one, a new AR that I bought from Josh at Shot show that was woobly, I've had good luck with them. But I hate Mick's attitude :thumbdn:
