Strider SnG... May pull the Trigger. Thoughts?

I happen to have a few knives with me today at work so I took a quick picture so you can get an idea of how the SnG compares with some other popular knives size wise.

Now thats a great looking family :)

I will never buy another Strider. Worst CS I've ever encountered. Judging by my experiences with their knives they're overpriced, have poor f&f with even worse customer service. Made me wait forever then lied to me saying the knife was fixed and sent it back to me with the same problems. After what all came out about the owner I should of known they're a bunch of lying crooks. Try calling them. Mick Burger stated publicly that they will no longer be answering the phone. Good company.

The email I sent was answered by phone. Care to elaborate a little more on your specific experience?

Get one! Have an SnG GG and two PT's! Love me Striders! Pricey but what the hell you only live once!!

Striderco, ordered one a few days ago! Gen. 6 SnG with brown G10, flamed ti, and full flat ground blade in S35VN and striped finish. Should be getting it tommorow. Can't wait!

Just got my SnG today. Im hooked. The blade sits centered, locks up like a bank vault and the fit and finish seems perfect. VERY happy with it so far. Just need to break it in to get it opening smoother.

IMO there are too many other good kniveS (note the plural) that you could get for the price of a Strider to justify actually buying one....

JW Knives, the price is a bit high but is worth it IMO. The design is just awesome to me. I love how it feels in hand especially the choil.to choke up a little if you want. I also haven't handled a knife that feels as solid as the SnG. I have had ti Benchmades and have a Sebenza and they dont feel quite as solid.

Nice! Congrats. I opened/closed mine compulsively for 3 days and after that was smooth as butta!!!
Which one did you got? 3/4 or flat grind
Cheers

Thanks BBW. I got the full flat grind in CPM S35VN (striped finish). Brown G10 and flamed Ti. Its the exact configuration I was wanting so im happy.

Awesome. Glad you are happy. Haters are going to hate and half of them have probably never even held one. A ZT, etc is not a Strider and will never feel the same. :)

Thanks. ZT's are excellent knives but I do agree, they aren't the same. There will always be people who don't like Striders or another sort of knife for whatever reason...just the way it is. All I know is, I like the knife a lot, I'm satisfied with the purchase and it doesn't have any problems: Successful addition to the collection/ EDC rotation in my book.

How do you sharpen your knives? I have a wicked edge and it works great with the SNG. 600 grit then hit it with the strop leaves an amazing edge. The HT is unbelievable on Strider's S30V. Was very time consuming to reprofile even with 100 grit on the WEPS.

Have you noticed if the tip of the knife is duller than the rest of the blade? I've bought two SnGs before and they both had slightly duller tips. I think it's done on purpose to give the tip area more strength.

I use a set of rods and stones then a leather strop. Nothing special, but it works. I sharpen my blades pretty frequently so they never get too dull to need a really serious sharpening. I've actually been looking into getting a wicked edge. Seems to get great reviews so I'll have to pick one up at some point. My SnG has S35VN so I'd imagine it'd be even MORE of a pain to sharpen haha. I think the Wicked Edge woul dbe worth it just for that honestly.

It does seem like the very last portion before the actual point is slightly duller but it still cuts. The blade is pretty thick at the tip which means more metal between the spine and actual edge so the the bevel is on a slightly more obtuse angle than the rest of the blade. Don't know if that makes sense to you but thats the best way I can explain it.

The tip on mine was also. When reprofiling I eventually just left the tip dull. It was the last 3/8 or so that was more obtuse.

Yeah thats about how much of mine is a little duller. Id actually say mine is a bit less. It diesnt bug me too much at all. It still cuts fine.

Pretty much how I felt. It was everything I dreamed of in a knife. I'll be searching for one of the super steels come first of next year.
