Strider SnG... May pull the Trigger. Thoughts?

So far, it really is a perfect folder for me as well. Just wish they could've included a spanner tool for the price. I'm not going to ever have to do any heavy prying with it or use it as a screw driver but I just like the feel and build of heavy duty knives. Not to mention it looks great IMO and the G10 is probably my favorite on any knife- not too grippy. What super steels will they be coming out with?

Have you noticed if the tip of the knife is duller than the rest of the blade? I've bought two SnGs before and they both had slightly duller tips. I think it's done on purpose to give the tip area more strength.

you are correct; they are left dull to pry with the knife. That way you won't damage the edge

Between the SNG and SMF there have been some 3V and 110V among others. I want a 110V SMF :)

You can make your own spanner tool for around 10$ from a Parks Chainring Nut Wrench http://www.parktool.com/product/chainring-nut-wrench-cnw-2. I used a dremel to make a little better fit and it works like a charm.
As far as the WE its worth it; I got it when I bought the Strider because I wanted it to re-profile it. I did it to 20 degrees-40 inclusive- including the tip (I have an SMF tanto with I haven't touch the second edge from prying purposes) although I have done light prying and has performed like a champ.
The "super" steels are 110sv, M4, VimCru20, Nitinol... 110 and M4 can be had currently but are rare
Cheers

Thanks for the info on the tool BBW! I have a bike shop 5 mins from my house and he has a good selection of parktools so i'll have to go see if he has any. Does it work without any modification?

Can't recall but i just took a little bit of metal; you can do it with a file. Pretty easy!

You might not need a spanner. I was able to adjust my SnG by using a 1/8th hex bit on the flat side of the pivot. You only need a spanner ( or a large flat screwdriver)if the pivot assembly spins as you turn the bolt. I started by putting a few drops of remoil in the threads and letting it sit a few hours.

JPD, I'll try that. If not, I just got the parktool BBW mentioned...Had to get a flat on my mountain bike fixed anyway. BBW, which side of the wrench did you modify? The one with or without the hole? It seems like both could work but i'm not sure.

They did have a sub-forum here, but Strider Knives and Bladeforums didn't see eye to eye.

If you go to Google and do site:bladeforums.com "whatever you want to search" you can find just about anything on bladeforums going way back.

the one with no hole since he "tip" of the side with the hole is too wide to fit in and you would also have to file it and make it thinner. I went the easy way ;-) although both sides would work with a little mod
Let me know if you need help. If you have a leatherman tool, the file will work just fine (just an idea since its a common tool)
Cheers

Thanks. I used a file and it fits perfectly. Was able to tighten the pivot a bit. Thanks again, you saved me from spending $30+.
