The point he is trying to make is that such action is so abusive the blade lies on the user rather than the folder, this of course fails to take into account that lots of knives can do the same action and not be effected.

It is like arguing that you should not expect any gloves to resist cuts because cotton gloves have low cut resistance. That however should be ridiculus to anyone, it is the same line of reasoning however.

A more sensible arguement would be if you need to use a knife like that, don't get one that will break, there are ones that can do it - just get one of them.
