Strider Warranty Repair: Cost and Wait?

I'm aware of what the stop pins are. I've owned 3 SMF, 3 SnGs and 1 PT. I'm down to 1 SMF and 1 SnG. No stranger to the brand by any stretch. I just don't think I would like seeing a larger diameter "stop pin" on one side, regardless of how it might be installed, be it a cover or otherwise. I'll find out at some point when I send this one back for repair.

I understand. Hopefully that day won't come soon. If that day comes you may find it is not that big a deal, then again it might be to you. That is not for me to say.

I had an SnG with the one blade stop larger that the other. This is the fix that Strider uses and it works. Like Peter said, it's no big deal, to me.

Lock rock is also common if the knife is worn past 60% (with any knife that has minimal factory bend) Everyone I have handled simply needed a little more bend at thick time.
If you mean it has early lock up but the lock slips then you need to contact Josh.
I think people use the term rock lock for any vertical movement.

Randy Johnson with solo's knife reviews on YouTube recently did a video on his experience with Strider's warranty service. Turned out to be pretty good in his favor. I can't remember what issues he was having, but it was an interesting video. I used to own a SnG with the old lockup that was rock solid so I can't really comment on the lock rock or warranty service.

I recently had issues with a Strider SMF. Brand new from KnifeArt Ranger Green cerakote model. After approx 100 deployments I notice screws were coming loose on the scales. I had to tighten them and they wouldn't tighten so I emailed Josh Lee and got a response within 30 mins. They sent me new screws for free. Then....before the screws get to Virginia and after about 3-400 deployments I notice extreme lock up with quite a bit of blade play up and down. I emailed Strider again and they said to send it in. I did so with no $25 money order. Not only did they fix the problem, they replaced the whole knife. That is PREMIER CUSTOMER SERVICE. I understand Strider has many military and government contracts so I took that into consideration when I didn't recieve any emails while my SMF was there with them. I have only one SMF and I have a fixed blade Strider that has never had blade rock....lol. I love Strider knives...those who choose to also love them eventually understand they are HARD use knives. ....cutting cardboard and paracord isn't hard use....cutting metal band straps and beating through sheetrock are more along the lines of HARD USE.

I belong to a Strider group and rarely hear of lock rock in properly broken in knives with the new lock face. Meaning during the time the lock is mating to the blade. When I hear of lock rock it is usually because the person is flicking the knife open hard causing uneven wear. I have three Striders with the new lock face and all are just opened like a regular knife. They are not flippers etc. and there is no need to slam a knife open. All my Striders have zero lock rock and unlock smoothly without any stickiness.

Blaming Strider is silly, and getting pissed at an openly posted price for return shipping is even more so after buying one. Sound like 100% of the blame is on the person selling you the knife and not Strider.

Also, every case I have read from actual Strider owners say the service is fantastic and Strider has even waived the return fees.

All of the 6 or so striders ive owned had lock rock. Some from the get go, others took a few weeks.

I have heard strider has an excellent warranty, but have never experienced that first hand. Every time i would send an email I never got a response so I took the easy way out and sold everything ski related and swore off them for good.

You must have really bad luck....I own three SNG/SMF and none have issues.

If you say so, ive owned 35+ knives and only have had issues with two companies products. Striders were my favorite design hands down till I experienced them myself and had all these issues. Still like the design but will likely never own another
