Strider won't answer my calls

I have a Strider SNG CC that I bought used off this forum and have made it my EDC from the day I received it. Great knife, solid feel, small enough to keep in most pants pockets. Recently I felt a sharp edge on the back of the closed blade and looking close I realized the blade has developed a crack radiating out from the thumb stud to the back of the blade! I'm am very gentle with the Strider mostly using it for opening boxes or other easy cutting chores. I can't imagine what would have brought on this crack.
But the real reason for this post is to ask if anyone has had trouble getting in touch with Strider. I have left 3 messages on their answering machine over the last 3 weeks or so with a callback number and have heard nothing back. They state to call before sending in a blade for service but won't respond. Any thoughts?

P.S. are they responsible for a possible stress crack or am I?

I've sent them an email and never got a response back.... never tried calling. From what I heard they are not good at communicating at all.

Btw you're going to get flamed for claiming your strider sustained such a damage from opening boxes and easy cutting chores. The last time I claimed my friend made a light scratch on the titanium side there was 8 pages of flammage. Apparently everybody who owns a strider on this forum uses their striders to pry metal gates and shovel rocks. Just saying dude....

Email is the best way to contact them, never had problems contacting them that way.

Hey logical, was that the story about your friend wolverine who scratched the blade with his fingernails?

CrimsonTideShooter made a youtube video on how to get ahold of Strider customer service. It is not secret that calling is not a good option. Email them, pack the knife up and send it in. Look for the video, it explains a bit of the details.

I have emailed and called Strider numerous times and have never received a reply. Sorry guys, but customer service does count...

I think that either you were either emailing the wrong address, or you are exaggerating. I'm sorry, but I just can't believe that Josh didn't reply to you. I have emailed him MANY times (from different email addresses, he didn't know it was me at first) and he has replied within 30 minutes every single time.

If you email Josh, you are pretty much guaranteed a quick reply.

The same thing happened to my SnG:

I was told that this is caused by the stress on the metal from pressure putting in the pin. They'll get it fixed, but be prepared for a bit of a wait. Alot of people have been able to get their knives fixed pretty quickly, but they must be busy right now or something because mine is going on 2 months in the shop.

While I do not want to start another great debate on the topic, I will say that this has not been my experience. Here is my recent experience with their response time:

Edited for privacy, but the timestamps are correct. About 14 days for a response. Again, I'm not knocking them, just relaying my experience.

Lol it's not like this guy came on the forum just to complain about a little mark on his knife, he has a serious issue and needs help resolving it.

OP, hope they get back to you. People who sell faulty products and then disappear when the customer has an issue should be thrown in jail

Exactly -- their approach to warranty/repair issues is "just send it in", with an email being the best way to contact them if you need to. Send your knife in, and it will be fixed. It may take a little while simply because with an issue like this the only real option is to replace the entire blade.

As for the crack, that's just something that happens occasionally with studs that are press-fitted (a hole or stud that's a tiny bit too small/big), not something that's specific to the way the knife was used or the brand; there are plenty of threads about it happening with ZTs and other knives that press-fit their studs

Great information.

Let me make sure I understand this correctly.

If by some chance, some other member here or anyone else for that matter...doesn't know any better and sends their knife in USPS, there is a strong chance they will be without their knife for a month or two because they don't like to go to the post office? Also, if you e-mail more than once, you're bugging them... is that right? I just want to make sure that I understand who i'm dealing with just in case my PT screws up and I have to send it in...with the hopes that they will be gracious and grant me some customer service.

Strider is completely off my wants list. This and other threads make them a total no go.
Interestingly enough, production knife companies seem to have the best customer service. It appears to be much higher than that of midtech knife manufacturers (Strider being midtech).

LOL...gotta love customer service that requires a video to learn how to navigate the system. Next there will be a "Strider warranty for dummies" book.

Wait... Their customer service is so bad it takes a 10 minute YouTube video to figure out how to get warranty work done? Come on now.

I don't run the show over there, nor do I advocate that kind of service policy. I just helped answer the question asked.
