Hello everyone, I was asked how I went about stripping my NMFSH CG in another thread:
Edit if you want the logo after you strip you should etch it first! I use PCB etchant from radio shack.
Well here is what I done, but I will say again, I can't take much credit! Busse done all the real work, these are absolutely beautiful combat grade blades!
Prep is very easy, I've found out if I warm the blade just a little above room temp the stripper works much faster. I warm the entire knife with a heat gun until its warm to the touch, think "knife sitting in the sun warm" :thumbup:
I then lay the knife in a aluminum pan ( because that's what I can use without the wife being able to tell I used it
)
and pour the Zip-Strip over the entire blade. It usually only takes a couple minutes for the coating to bubble. I use a scrapper to gently scrape the coating away.
Once I have the coating scraped off as good as I can with the scrapper I take the pan with the knife to the laundry tub and rinse it with warm water. Then I use a red scotch bright to to gently buff the rest of the little bits of coating off.
All together I had about twenty minutes in this, well worth it to me, I love nekid INFI!
Here's what I started with, first day I got it, had to beat the coating off a little.
And here is what was underneath, thanks Busse Crew for an awesome blade!
That is one proffesional satin you got there, it would be very nice if you posted pics of how you did it, did you slightly sand it?
