Strongest folding knife !

So what is your connection to or association to the knife? It seems more and more like it is not just some knife you happen to like.

Handle could be easily be streamlined. Try prying 100 or 200 lbs with flat side of a standard folder...they would snap in two. I think the idea behind this knife is "Fixed blade capability when all you have room for is a folder" This is a prototype not a production knife.

Locks don't fail when flat side prying. The blades usually do. Could you tell us if you are affiliated with this knife?

^^Yeah, really. Cuz right now im getting a pretty sketchy vibe from you. If you are, then just say so...... whats the issue?

Cough "CRKT" cough cough... ;):D:rolleyes:

The RAO is supposed to be a pretty decent knife but it's spendy considering the materials used. :grumpy: It'd be worthwhile at about half the price IMO.

Read my mind on CRKT, it's what I was thinking when I wrote that (although I have a few faves from CRKT, no disrespect to them.)

Agree about the RAO... and I'm curious how great a cutting tool it is... that's some interesting geometry and a chunk of steel there...

Well, I like the blade shape, a definite plus. Good work. One thing though, a lot of fixed blades and folders will snap in 2 with a heavy lateral load. There are some exceptions in the fixed blade world. But as far as folders, I cannot think of many as the steel is hardened and geared for cutting performance, not high toughness tasks like prying. .02¢

If I had to put money on the strongest overall folder, as well as ounce for ounce I would say with confidence the Cold Steel Spartan. I am continually amazed by that knife. And while the folder can't be as strong as a fixed blade, I'd wager that the spartan would outlast many fixed blades if abused.

Never will there be a folder thats as strong as a fixed blade. The physics of moving parts vs a solid piece of material arent going to change so I dont get why companies and custom makers try to make folders just as strong as fixed blades, the comparison between the two is an entirely different league. However its interesting to see all the different attempts and designs, and I certainly enjoy very strong locks like the tri-ad for example.

Your last sentence answers your second one. ;)

Curious about that too. As its seems like you are associated to it the more this thread goes on.

I like the look of it, and I appreciate a strong lock, but I'd like to see it get refined. As is, it seems like there are too many individual motions to open and close it. If the switch on the bolster could be more easily manipulated with one hand, it might be a winner.

When held by both handles, a balisong does it best,as far as approximating a fixed blade. Zero chance of closure, you'd have to let go of it first.

FEA work/simulation with a 150" 440C blade, HT 58-60 RC will fail with a side load of 250lbs. The lock and tang mating surfaces stay cool and are unaffected.

I'M THE INVENTOR

There are no washers or bushings. blade/tang to handle tang area is is mated along matching crossectional surfaces. When locked it does act exactly like a fixed blade knife along every axis.

it looks like it would be uncomfortable to use, and i'll take comfort over strength any day.
