Strongest knife steel out of...?

Well, what did you choose?

Did you choose? Or not? Which seems to be customary.

Find your perfect prying, hammering, non-cutting folder yet?

What about one of these (the CRKT version)?

I'm not sure how strong the folding version is.

Besides n680, they're all pretty weak actually. N680 would have the greatest impact toughness, if you're worried about slamming the edge directly into stuff. That kind of thing will chip the hell out of the other steels and can potentially ruin something like S30V.

I once slammed my S30V Manix into a fire extinguisher and had a chip that gouged out the entire edge's bevel. Had to grind out an entire new bevel and now the thing looks cockeyed.

i think if your dead set on using a knife either get the chisel tip knife or the CRKT one posted a few pages back that is a knife and a prybar and screw driver

while obviously not ideal both of those should work for what you want, if you get the chisel tip knife i suggest getting one with the lowest hardness since generally the harder a steel is the more brittle it is, a 53-55hrc should be good, but i would never use a 58 or higher blade and hey on the plus side the lower hardness knives tend to be cheaper then their super hard exotic steel counterparts

Another good option would be a leatherman type tool, is there any reason you dont want one of those?

First off, you should stop prying with your knives. Second, do some research about heat treatment. You can have the same steel, with two different heat treats, and they will react differently.

Seriously, stop prying with your knives. That's a very stupid thing to do.

You want a hammer and a prybar?

I highly recommend any of the quartermaster knives, I had a qtr6tt for a while and it was a beast on a knife, stainless steel frame lock and thick G10 slab over a thick stainless liner, the blade was close to 3/16 thick and it was easily pocketable. I would have no objections to prying with one. They do run a little above your budget but it wouldn't break easily.. Also stated earlier, the bencbmade adamas is a brick of G10 so it makes it a hell of a pocket anchor but it's a pretty buff knife.
And all these dudes calling you stupid for prying with a knife, I just say, you can use YOUR shit however you want to use your shit. Best of luck finding what you need bro
