So here's my situation, college student and i want a knife to carry on campus. no guns allowed even if you have a conceal/carry permit so this is my only option. university laws say blades under 3.5 inches are OK. so what I would love is:

1. recommendations for a knife with blade as close to (but under) 3.5" as possible, that is easily concealable, but easily deployed

2. recommendation for knife with same length criteria, but is fixed blade. handle can be as big as you want. a good tactical knife, easily deployed.

I'd love any suggestions. Thanks

For a fixed blade, try the Rat Cutlery Izula- 2.88" blade, skeletonized handle big enough for a four-finger grip, and easily concealable. The factory sheath offers a variety of carry options, but is a little bulky- however, there are a number of members on here that make quality aftermarket kydex sheaths for the Izula.

I would go with either an Emerson A-100...

...or a Benchmade Griptilian or a Spyderco Para-Military.

maybe a RC hest. man your lucky. my campus' rule is under 2.5" and cant lock. no fixed blades.

Paul, could you give us a price range your wanting to work with-in. Thank You

exs. 25.00 to 50.00, 50.00 t0 100.00

I'd suggest something along the lines of a Buck Vantage Pro or a Spyderco Delica if you're looking for a locking folder. However, I think you'd be better suited with a slipjoint folder like a Case peanut, a Swiss Army Knife or a good multitool like a Leatherman given the nature of some college campuses.

A Benchmade 940 or 943. I carried mine at Penn State, and never got a second look when I used it.

Oh, and though I don't actually have one (yet), I've been looking at the Kanetsune Yama.

Welcome to Bladeforums.

I assume you want a one-hand opening knife. You said concealable but assessable does that mean you want a pocket clip or not. You could carry IWB (inside waistband).

There are a lot of good options to choose from. I like Spyderco. The Delica is ~3" and the Stretch is 3.5", both are great knives. The Para-military is great too. There is also the Benchmade 530 w/ ~3.25" blade and the Griptilians. Let us know a price range and how you intend to use it. I understand that S/D might be a underlying concern, but in general it shouldn't be your primary reason for carrying a knife.

+1 Carry mine on campus every day.

EDC = Every Day Carry.

Basically refers to any items you'd typically carry on your person, be it pen, wallet, knife, etc.
