sub 3.5" blade for carry on campus

Well I don't wear skinny jeans, its emo and I am not, and I dislike twilight, any story about a 100 year old man and a 17 year old girl is a story of pedophilia in my book.

I have never subscribed to be what you would call your average teenager, I think I might be a little to grown up for my age afterall I am only in my late teens.

I want to remain alive until it is my time to go, I want to pass peacefully in my easy chair at a ripe old age, not room temperature in some gutter in a pool of my own blood.

That is why I am so focused on self preservation, apparantly all of us "defensive minded" people should know better than to post about defensive subjects in general knife discussion where all walks of life come, not just armed citizens.

We all have one thing in common we like knives but that is where the line ends from there it is all different mindsets, how we use our knives (and other items) and pretty much anything else.

So I guess what I'm saying is if you don't like the fact that people are defensivelly inclined than kindly keep that to yourself.

We truely don't care what anyone has to say "all you need is a SAK" that is your philosophy, not ours when we ask for ideas on a defensive knife don't come barging in saying "oh all you need is a SAK or a traditional knife" we didn't ask for that, we want ideas for what we asked for not to be told oh you don't need to carry for defensive purposes blah blah blah.

If that is all you have to say than kindly move along and keep your comments toward threads relating to a subject you agree on. :grumpy:

LOL, I think you're taking this all a little too seriously bud.

Carry whatever knife floats your boat, just remember to have fun in college.

You only get those 4 years once. They can be the best time of your life.

Meet lots of people, expand your horizons, open your mind to different thoughts and different mind sets.

Remember to have fun! You could die of an aneurysm tomorrow! Live, love, laugh (not necessarily in that order) :)

I prefer a Wharncliffe style blade it can still stab very deep but slash extremly well.

And that slash will result in blood squirting out. If a microscopic drop lands in your eye, or on an open crack in your skin and that blood is infected with HIV, or Hepatitis C, or MRSA, any combo or all, you may have won the initial fight, but the battle for your life will only be beginning. No tactical blade with custom steel and handles will help you there.

Just a thought. Think defensively. :)

Wow... people really got serious about this one. It may be just me but in just about any other post where people disagreed with the OP they kept it to themselves and let those who wanted to contribute post. I may be reading this wrong but it seems like people are kinda jumping on this because the kid is in college and wants to carry on campus. I know plenty of people who have started SD posts and didn't get this kind of reaction. I don't think it's wrong for somebody to want a knife they can carry with them that will work for SD if their balls are an inch from the band-saw. Thats my two cents

If. And...

The Vantage-Pro would work for that and be a good everyday use knife as well.

I was just making an observation based on what appeared to me to be aggressive hypothetical thinking about self defense.

the reaction seemed comparable to when that guy posted the thread about finding a knife that could pass through airport security.

I could def. understand people getting pissed about some goon trying to get a knife past airport security... i think people get caught up in threads sometimes and start taking them too seriously. Lets get back on the original subject though
I think a small seb would be an awesome choice for campus carry, big enough to do just about any task and sheeple friendly

Same sort of campus reqs for me. I carry my SOG Aegis a lot. Blade is right on the 3.5" limit. Comes with a lowrider clip so that only the clip shows outside of your pocket. Nice and light too and well within the $50-100 price range.

Every 154CM/S30/V/S60V/ZDP 189/D2 folder with solid lock up and 3 to 3.5 inch balde
or RAT/izula/ Becker necker BK11/bark river necker/ Buck Kaala ..

I don't know anything about fighting, but if you want to carry a knife that people will respect I'd get a Leatherman. Given that the pliers are the primary tool, and the blade is just one of many other tools, people are much less surprised to see a knife in use in that context.

to me, a leatherman isn't a replacement for a one-handed folder where the intended use is a substitute for a gun. if would carry both in that case. I usually EDC handed opening blade and also a SAK executive.

I second a SOG with assisted open. If the situation arises when you need a fast blade, sogs have great handles, razor sharp, and whip open fast. you can pick up a Flash 2, aegis, or trident fairly cheap on ebay from a canadian seller who is negotiable if you pm him.. which I did yesterday to get a trident.

edit: the jamppa, the original poster has already stated he cannot carry a gun. mace isn't legal in many places, pepper spray is, and pepper spray has MANY disadvantages and isn't something I would count on. tasers are also not legal in most places for civillians to carry.

It varies state to state, but on campuses over here:

1. Guns = illegal
2. Pepper spray = illegal
3. Tasers = illegal
4. Folding knives = LEGAL

I dunno... Take your pick...

pepper spray is illegal on the campuses near you? that's kind of strange. I know isn't legal in a lot of places, but usually pepper spray is.
