Sub $30 Ergonomic Folder?

A couple of recommendations already but I'm gonna put my hat in for Byrd's Cara Cara 2. They're quiet versatile with the half choil and thumb ramp. All types of handles are available from FRN to Ti and you can get one for $20. The Cara Cara 2 is really a great intro to Spyderco but don't be surprised when you end up w/ a PM2 in a couple of months.

RealSteel H6 beats a RAT Model 1 and can be had at certain places for just a little over $30.

Real steel is like 2x the cost of a Rat 1.

There are some places that have them for $34.95, which is just a bit beyond the OP's budget for a significantly better knife in every way. I couldn't post a link as they're not a supporting member. Not 2X the cost of a RAT 1, but definitely a little over budget.

Another vote for the Cara Cara 2, incredible value knife and carries so well in the pocket/during use.

Ka-Bar (Dozier design) folding hunter. I have one and it is excellent quality for the price.

The Buck Vantage, the Byrd (Spyderco) Cara Cara, BRK (Esee) Avispa, and Ontario Rat are all great choices. The Avispa is slimmer and lighter than the Rat. The Rat is heavier and more hand filling. The Buck and the Byrd have the best feel of any of these.

You can get a D2 Rat one at that figure.

Enlan's L-series sounds like it may fit the bill. Less than $20 and 8Cr13Mov steel. The L-series also typically feature blade lengths around the 3 - 3.3" inches, while anything with the "EL" model is around 3.3 - 3.5" inches.

The only concern I have about Enlan is that there are lots of rumors flooding around about that the company has supposedly ceased production.

Opinel's are very ergonomic in the hand. And if you don't like it, just take some sandpaper and shape it however you like it. Few knives will cut with an Opinel, and they are very light weight for their size.

Another vote for the rat1. The Aus8 steel is nothing fancy, but it is more than capable for most daily tasks. I like the buck110 too but it's more of a belt carry for me and not so much a knife to fit nicely in a pocket.

You said ergonomic, so that means Spyderco. You said under $30, so that means Byrd.

The Buck 110 is also surprisingly (maybe not that surprising given its longevity) ergonomic.

ou probably don't need to go beyond one of this two.

Maybe you should consider selling your lower cost knives, to get one better folder ^^
If not, and you live in the US, Ontario rat 1 is the way.
