Sub $30 Ergonomic Folder?

Aaaannndddd...the H6 is still a better knife. What's your point?
Quite simply I disagree with you. You stating your opinion as some sort of fact doesn't make it anything other than your opinion. That's my point. [emoji2]

If I was in the market for a $30ish knife right now I'd give the D2 Rat1 a try. I've never had one however so I'll recommend one that I do have and love as well, Spyderco Tenacious.

I have medium hands and the RAT and Vantage aren't even close to full grip knives for me. I'd probably go for a Utilitac.

I'm not a RAT 1 hater, not at all. I have two RATs with a CF version on the way. I also have three models of H6 and can say from personal experience that the H6 is a better knife in every way. Get one for yourself and I bet you'll agree...especially when an H6 is $35 and a RAT 1 is $28.

The Ontario RAT is a great value knife, but to a large degree the competition has caught up with it and in the case of the H6, has surpassed it.

Say Heah Guys and Gals, I got a Gurka Black-Ops Large Folder with Hansotia Co. name on the box, I read that Hansotia Co. made high end custom knives. I got a small folder a while ago in a cigar promo from Cigars International that I use to open my cigars order and it's awesome site for that, Even though it has a glass breaker, it's a liner lock made out a all steel frome. Actually I like it, It's also a combo edge and pretty sharp, I can't tell you how many boxes I opened and cut up with it and it's still sharp. So when they came out with the larger one and it was on sale and made alot better than a Frost Cutlery folder at that lrive, I bought six of them, They all came in a nylon sheath, but appears to be of good quality. The larger folder is a spring sssist, and an all steel construction and the combo edge, sort of a modified Tanto style and the lock-up is good and looks like it's solid maxe. I can't find any info on it other then what C I describes it. I actually like it, since I'm more of a fix blade junky. But I have pouches on some sheath's on some of my knives that can hold the knife, a firesteel and even a multi tool if I wanted to carry all three at the same time. But I don't like putting all my eggs in one basket. The Clip I'd nothing to write home about but it works just fine. But the price is what attracted me. The MSP is listed as $200. ₩0 but I only paid $7.95 apiece so I bought six of them. I will keep a couple abd since tgey come with a nice box with knife and pouch, I plan to give tge rest away as gifts, They look good enough, the I know they will be a nice gift for someone, actually they do look imlressive, I don't know how good tgey are, but so far my smaller one is holding up fine and is just right for what I use it for. That would be my suggestiin, check it out at Cigars International . COM, If anyone has any info on it, Even if the info is terrible, Heah for $8.00 I still think it's a deal. Thanx in advance.

Ontario RAT 1 or 2. I have them both and the smaller one is handier. Don't usually need the larger blade and handle.

I just picked up a cold steel voyager, brand new from a reputable dealer, in aus 8a 4 in. Blade for literally $0.01 under your budget.

Go and buy a bucklite Max right now 👍👍👍, I own the 482 ( medium ) and it's awesome.
It's American made unlike almost every other 20$ knife ( other than the buck bantams which are basically the same blade in a very ugly handle ), it's very ergonomic, it's lightweight, and it's backed by bucks famous warranty.
IMHO it's probably the world's best sub 40$ one handed opener, and especially the best 20$ folder available.
If you know exactly what you need for edc , bucks 420hc definitely doesn't suck and more than perfectly adequate.

The ergos on the Kershaw-Emerson CQC-6K and 7K are fantastic as well. I actually prefer the ergos on those to the RAT-1. Although, there's the limited runs of the RAT-1 right now with D2 blades for just over $30 that seem like a great deal, if you're leaning towards that.

I always found the Kershaw Oso Sweet to be very ergonomic. Its an inexpensive, comfortable and light weight edc blade and a great bang-for-the-buck.

I picked up a Spyderco Tenacious very lightly used for under $30 on Ebay, it's a way better knife than the Byrd Cara Cara or Meadowlark (own both of these too). If you can find one, the Tenacious is a really nice knife.

I'm sure it's in here somewhere but the Utilitac II, also an Ontario product, is great.

Having owned both Ontario and Realsteel, the gap really is quite significant. I know it sounds dramatic, but there really isn't a single budget knife out there that compares to their materials and finish for the money. I say that with the Utilitac also being one of my most recommended knives still as well.
