Sub-$300 Katana (2014 edition)

The shobu is back ordered. That seems to be a problem a lot of the time. I was a while ago going to get the bushido hanwei from kult, but I thought about it too long and it sold out

WOW, sold out before your eyes, crazy! It must be popular. I don't know how many they keep in stock at one time...

I found the info on this dude: "ZenKote is a super-tough decorative and conductive nano-coating finish developed by House of Hybrids. Imagine having incredible beauty in a highly conductive finish but with a hardness greater than carbide! We start with a Stainless Steel substrate then run the part through a 7 step cleaning process to clean and sterilize it making it ready for the tough outer finish. Finally, The final finish step is to put our proprietary vapor deposition nanocoating on it to make it permanent and tougher than any PV finish available, it's tougher than Chrome!" He says it is 1 atom of thickness, and the destructive video I seen him do was ridiculous. Would be nice to have him coat a katana with this stuff... Hell of an idea, actually.

That would make for an interesting test. I'd have to test that on a cheapo first. How much does that finish run?

The Huawei's were recommended to me, and I have actually checked them out before. The have some great customizability options. Tsuba, menuki, fuchi-kashira, stuff I haven't seen offered from ANY manufacturer. But they only sell through there ebay site, and frankly, it sketches me out.
