Successful Hunting Pics 2013/2014

Got a few good kills in 2013, but here's my first kill of 2014. Took this cottontail with my Crosman 1322 (.22) pellet pistol at my mother in laws house. 15 yards, standing off hand, dropped like it never even felt it. Gotta love them hollow points!

I love pistol hunting, and especially airpistol. It really forces you to up your hunting skill rather than just getting a bigger scope and shooting farther. I shoot only iron sights as well.

Wow, is that the Crossman single shot pump pistol? I swear that is like the one I bought 19 years ago when I was 15. Only mine is the brown version. You can really get small game with it?? .......I really need to dig mine out and tune it up. ;)

Nicely done!!

Yes it is. This one is .22 caliber but I also have a .177 version in brown as well. There were a few little changes along the way, but they're still quite popular. I havnt done any internal mods yet, just trigger work and the custom rear sight I made. Its about a 20oz trigger now. But you can do all sorts of things with them, changing valves, port/polish the transfer port, lighter valve spring, upgrade barrel band, hardened pivot pin, custom grips, and the list goes on...

They're quite capable of taking small game, great woods walking pistol. If you have any questions about it, let me know!

Here are the two Crosman pumpers, a Norica 83 target springer and a Crosman MK I...

Man, you're really making me miss my 1377. I think I need to get a new one. I hope they are still as good as the old ones were.

Things hav changed a little bit on the 1377 over the years, but with a little fine tuning they are one hell of a great little gun! I bought both of mine at Big5 on one of their sales each time. Paid around $50. Crosman Premier Hollow Point pellets for ~$8 from walmart and you're good to go!

A couple things if you get one, first is to polish and lube the trigger. To lighten, I fully compress the sear spring (only spring in trigger group), clip 1-2 coils and turn a domed polished button that fits inside the spring and rides on the bottom of the sear. A spent .22 casing works as well, but don't clip coils. The rear sight I hve found to be too tall on both gun, a small file will take care of that, or you just zero it at a longer range. Go through and double check the breech bolts and the barrel crown. They break in after about 50-100 rounds anyways. ALWAYS STORE IT WITH A COUPLE PUMPS!! This will keep the seals in shape and lasting a lot longer.

Oh, and so I don't get off topic...

Thanks for that. One more question. How much difference is there between the .22 and the .177? I've never used a .22 pellet gun but I absolutely loved my 1377. Is it enough to make me want the .22?

Well, its kind of a toss up, you'll notice I own both!

.22 pellet, ~14gr@450fps = 6ft/lbs energy
.177 pellet, ~8gr@600fps = 6ft/lbs energy

This is in stock form for both the 1377 and 1322. But, you being a driver can totally relate, more mass takes longer to stop i.e. retained energy down range. The .177 penetrates deeper going faster and has a flatter trajectory, but at longer ranges loses some kE. So, you want which one for hunting? I usually hunt with the .22 because I have a slightly better trigger on it, I also have opportunity to take game like rabbits, opposum, coon kits and other such critters that are hard to kill.

Something that may make a bigger factor in your choice, your local availability for pellets. Much like powder burners, two identical guns, one number apart will like different rounds. Air guns are picky about pellet choice. Buy a bunch of different ones to try out, but remember it still takes 50-100 rounds or moe to break in.

Let me know if you have any other questions! Maybe next time you roll through town we can sit behind the dennys there at Arch rd and shoot the lot lizzard and you can try both lol :p

Troutfisher, I cleared out my inbox. I put a dowel/peg in the plaque and it goes in the brain/spine hole in the head. Makes it easy to remove the skull if moving it. Very stable.

My second deer ever, killed him yesterday on the Buckhorn WMA in Louisiana. Shot with a break action single shot .35 whelen which is a legal weapon in Louisiana during primitive weapons season.

This joker walked right up on me (scared the crap out of me lol). I was in a ground blind that was made of palmettos leaned agains saw horses with a chair between them. I was checking my phone and getting ready to walk out (had to drive a 5ish hours that night). Looked up and he is standing 15 ft to my left. He heard the hammer on my gun cock and ran to about 20 yards and gave me a pretty broad side.

Mack, check out this video, it's pretty amazing...

Wow. That must have been a rush.

Got this one late this afternoon on my property. First one I've seen since the first week of December. Missed the first shot offhand, and it hid, but I found it with binoculars and put an RWS Subsonic through the boiler room.

Rabbits are my favorite. Fry them up , make some gravy then let them simmer in a crock pot all day. I make a pretty good dish.

I wish I could find some rabbits this year, no luck so far. I got several last years season. They are tasty critters, much better than squirrels.
