I shot a few grounds squirrels that weekend with my 243 using 62gr Barnes Varmint Grenades. It was too gory to photograph. Those high velocity rounds just flips them up a few feet in the air and turn them inside out. I will bring my 22wmr next time... now that I am finally able to get some non lead CCI TNT Green to feed my Sako Quad.

my Sako Quad.

A .22 WMR Qaud, now I'm jealous... I'm a rimfire nut:p
You're the only one I know with the Quad. Did you go with all 4 barrels and the Burris Quad scope? I almost did about a year ago, and may still get one in the WMR.

My Sako Finfire will out shoot the Cooper VE I had, my Anshutcz 64 action and almost keep up with my 54 action. Hella gun for the price! I'm sure the Quad will shoot just as good as the Finfire.

It's already been said, but great shot. Your heart must have been pumping pretty good after running 50 yards.

I too am a rimfire nut! I own more rimfires than I care to admit.

My 22WMR Quad will shoot about a slightly less than 3/4" 100yd group on a calm day when I do my part. Most groups are in the 1" range. Surely accurate enough for minute of ground squirrel out to 150yds. I only have the 22WMR and 17HM2 barrel for it. I opted to go with a 2.5-8X zeiss conquest instead of the Burris Quad scope because I only plan on shooting the above mentioned caliber out of my quad. I prefer the better optics of the zeiss. It is no big deal to zero my primary barrel then keep track the number of clicks to zero my other barrel.

I also recently picked up a Sako Finnfire but have not yet gotten a chance to shoot it yet. I hear that they are super accurate though. It was almost like new and I paid about 6bills for it.

BTW, Whittaker's has those Quads on sale for around 450 which I felt are superb deals for a Sako. The last I checked they still had quite a few in stock. I was planning on a CZ 452 FullStock but decided to go with the Quad because it was only a couple of bucks more.

hahahaha... no kidding! After downing the little porker I immediately continued to chase after the rest of the pigs uphill for another 50yds or so. Of course they smoked me on the uphill run and quickly pulled away from me. I had a few opportunities for the texas heart shot but decided not to chance it because the terrain was getting very thick and I didn't feel like tracking a wounded animal in the dark. I actually did not feel tired during the fact. I just remember sweating like crazy and my legs feeling a bit sore the next day.

Ban, thanks for the heads up:thumbup:

Think I'll get one at that Great price... but sure wished I had never seen that SW Model 41 50th anniversary:( I have two 41 frames with 4 barrels...one with red dot, one scopped with 2x7 Burris. My favorite gun of all time, may have to sell something for the anny.

I hear ya on the Burris Rifle scopes, but there varible handgun scopes can't be beat. There heavy but have great optics and the best field of view, esp the 2x7.
I have there 3x9 on my Ansultz 10" Exemplar .22, and Contender 10" WMR.
There 3x12 for the the custom XP in my avatar. For a fixed 2 or 4 power I like the leupold.

We'll have to talk a little rimfire at Blade next year:thumbup:

ban,
thats a nice s&w. one of the most accurate revolvers i've shot was a 610.

my next gun will be a s&w mountain gun in 41magnum.(thats the only caliber i've handloaded for...iirc 250gr cast)...it's basically the same load that FEDERAL puts in their
"cast core" ammo.

The 41magnum is a great round. A thinking man's cartridge. I too would buy a 41 mag if I didn't already have a boatload of .401 bullets vs .410 bullets. 250gr hardcast at 1250 is quite potent! Plenty of game animals have fallen to 200-250grainers with .275+ meplats going 1000-1200fps.

The best thing about rimfires is the cheapness with which they may be shot.

My personal favorite is the Marlin 39A. "If I could only have one..."

Yep! That is very true. On the flip side it can get quite expensive when you are chasing the one holers with premium ammunition like Eley, RWS, Lapua, etc.... Some of those match ammo can cost up to 20+ bucks for a box of 50:eek:

Luckily most of us enjoy 22 rimfire for practice and plinking with with cheap ammo

Ken,

The SW Model 41 is Schweet! I have never fired one of those.

Sweet hunting pictures. Now you need to have a BBQ. MMMH pigs= tasty.

Tika's are a great rifle. I am thinking about going deer or elk hunting this season. I have not been since 1995.

Thanks for sharing.
