Summer snark !

This year has been more traditional than the last half a dozen or so. We did not get endless hot days, and we got more fall like weather, both hot and cool.

We did however just lose a beloved brother in the sportfishing community of soCal. Mikey Rijavec was found Sunday, after issuing a Mayday while kayak fishing in Baja. He will be missed.

I can't post the link, but here's the text:
Swedish Army Monster Fork, Ginormous, Surplus
Technical details and instructions
Whole length: 60 cm.
Metal bit length: 33,5 cm
Prong length: 9 cm
Prong thickness: Excessive
Description
Härreguud, what a wicked weapon. If you haven’t found a manly enough sausage grilling stick, here it is! You can skewer a buffalo ham to this, and if you aren’t into the carnivore diet, grill a whole pumpkin This is also fit for hunting crocodiles, and works as a crappy fire iron, mountain troll cocktail fork, or a boar spear.
Made from alunominomnomium
Use
This is such a frightful thing that it requires an open carry permit from Odin. These were sold to us as Swedish army cooking forks, so our minds exploded a bit when the shipment came, because the size is humongous. Frankly, we have no idea what they used to do with these. When you spear a hunk of beef with this, it will stay still while you carve it. However, the wound channel is large enough to fell a cape buffalo, so your Sunday roast might get very well ventilated.

Either Sweden had also bigger and better roasts than anybody else, or these were used for something completely different. What would a sensible person do with such a thing, you might wonder. Probably absolutely nothing. However, a creative person like you will probably come up with tons of brilliant ideas:

Modern minesweeper for the Russian army
Gift for a friend who has everything sensible and boring
Most memorable murder weapon in the next horror flick hit
Acupuncture needle for the numb buttocks of your pet mammoth
Cannibal chef accessory for the Halloween costume of the year
Condition
Swedish military surplus. These are forkin’ old but still in very nice condition. They will serve you well wherever you use ‘em.

Getting our first snow today. Calling for 9-12", probably have at least 7" as we speak. Wind gusts up to 35mph.

wow. we went from 34 and sleet at 6:30 last night to 40 and rain at 2AM to 45 and rain at 8AM.
currently 44 and still raining - we've probably gotten 1.5" or more so far.
supposed to get trace - 2 of snow tonight and 2-4 more Monday

Probably a solid ten plus inches, and still snowing. 32 degrees, and getting warmer, turning to rain around 5.

It finally stopped raining here around noon, and floated the 30-32 mark until 7 with 30+ mph north winds & 50 mph gusts.
truly an unpleasant day to be outside.

We got rain on top of the snow, forming a crust, and soggy underneath. Was not much fun to shovel.

Today was 18 at 6am, 23 at 10made it up to 28 after the sun came out for a couple hours, then heavy cloud cover moved in and it was 24 by 4

We just got a dusting of snow. Warning is until 6, and unless something else forms, its pretty much over.

Gave my son his first Becker knife during our hunting season. I found a BK-15 on the exchange here a few months back and knew it would go to him! He got to process his whole deer with it and it just needed about 2 minutes on the strop afterward and it's sharp and can be again.

about to get goram cold here.
So far just rain and icy windshields in the morning...

supposed to be moderately chilly here tomorrow as well - 9f before 9AM and a high in the mid-20's.
